I have a Geddy Lee Jazz bass and am having trouble. I'm guessing it's the pickups but I am picking up static and such. I removed the pick guard and it helped. I was thinking of putting in custom shop 60s Jazz pickups to solve the problem. Any thoughts?:)

My Squier had this same problem, it was just a loose wire in the pickup. I suggest you take it to a guitar shop and have them look at the electronics, perhaps a wire is a bit loose.

If that does not work you should check to see if you have a warranty with where you got it from, and if you do they will probably fix it for free or give you a brand new one! Just don't modify too much before you check to see if it's something little.

Thanx yeah. The warranty is expired. But I hear they put cheap pickups in it anyhow. They're either not grounded or very cheap pickups or both.

I was told by a certified Fender repair guy that they are the pickups that are causing ground noise. Although he hasn't seen it in person. My other Fender I modified doesn't have that problem cause I had a new pickup put in it. The Geddy jazz also picks up signals
