Geddy Lee Sansamp Pedal!

Hate to wake a Zombie, but I have a YYZ coming from JohnK tomorrow, and I'm wondering if anyone has gotten a Wal-ish tone out of this thing?

It actually gets very close! I've run my Gould GGi4 that has active EMG J's through it and it's an honest close middle ground between his Wal and Jazz. At the end of my chain it runs into the Shift Line Olympic MKIIIs, and it fairs well into my IEM's with or without the 8x10 cab sim engaged. Very punchy with that mid-range growly character.

What are your settings?

Will YYZ be able to serve the 70s funk dirt for P with LaBella flats&foam mute?

I'm splitting 5str ash maple Jazz with a P and while I have no doubt I can send Jazz to OD heaven with YYZ :) I have no idea how it fares with such P setup ... I don't need it to be nailing motown down tick-to-tick ... just to have remote sense when playing live ;)

Just got mine last week and already used it to record a Maiden cover. My favorite overdrive from a Tech 21 product this far. Here it is. Rough mix, no vocals. Bass is a Franken-P. Squier VM Precision with MIM Player Series neck, GZR pickups and Kickass bridge. Also used a DSM Omni Cab Sim pedal on the recording.

Has anyone found this pedal useful without the tight engaged ? It obviously has more low end without it, but at least for me, the drive is pretty bad without it. Love it with the tight engaged though. Just have to boost the lows.
The drive gets way too farty for me without the tight engaged. But I like it without the tight when I want to dial in that "B15" cleaner studio amp tone. But overdriven? Nah. It's tight or nothing.

Depends on the amp for me. If it's in front of my small practice amp it's on and driven about 11 to 1ish most times. With my larger tube amp I tend to run it with tight off, but also with less drive.

That said, recently at least, I find myself not wanting much drive overall from it. Usually prefer grit from the tube amp with the YYZ as more of a preamp to accentuate the upper midrange and harmonics without needing to push the amp really hard to do the same.

Nice. I rarely play it, but I’ll have to try that with my SVT.

I prefer "Tight" disengaged. Just depends how ya hit it, the "Tight" sure helps with top end clarity if not pounding on the strings and also makes more "Bassy" basses ie: Mudbuckers, Semi-Hollow Bodies, etc come to life.

Do what this guys says. ^
I do remember reading something like that when the pedal first came out. Like engaging the tight was for people who didn't bang it hard like Geddy. If you're more prone to banging, maybe you'd have better luck without the tight engaged. For lighter fingerstyle playing, the tight works well. But then I've always liked more grindy distortion than tubey, fatter overdrives, which the tight switch gives me.

I recorded a Maiden cover with it. Tight was engaged and I was hitting the crap out of the strings. I also used a DSM Omni Cab sim though. I’m sure that rounded out the tone a little.
