Geddy Lee Sansamp Pedal!

At practice last night the band guys liked this combination of the mid throaty YYZ into the dp-3x with added low and compression. I ran everything else on the dug at noon to try and keep as much YYZ tone as possible.

so my question is... does the new 2112 pedal DI with separate channels allow you to get more lows than the YYZ?

(repost from a less active thread)

My wife purchased the YYZ pedal for me for Xmas.. She's not a musician, but loves Rush and bass guitar. I didn't even know that thing existed since GAS is a bad bad thing. I tend not to follow the gear trends, or I'd be broke.

I had the opportunity to put it in front my P Bass Jazz special at band volume during our rehearsal. The studio we rehearse in usually has a cab and amp for bass. I usually bring my mesa 295/Yam PB1 rack and jack into their cab. This time I brought my 2x10/1x15 stack and the pedal for a good loud sound. I seldom use my stack for anything loud these days, so figured it was time to get it hot and shake the dust off.

I'd never used the YYZ at "band volume". I was suitably impressed. It managed to pull hair out of the mids while leaving the bottom and high mids clean as a whistle. I'm a finger player and it had a nice level of compression that didn't wreck the dynamics of my style. I'm listening to the recording now and noticed that the P Bass clank was a lot overboard. It beat Steve Harris P Bass clank from Powerslave clank. I won't blame the pedal for that. I miced close to the dust cover of the 1x15 in a manner I don't normally do, just for fun (gotta experiment you know). I'll probably revert back to my normal micing pattern of half the radius of the cone to the edge, and angled at the cone. I'm certain this pedal will only get better as I learn about it and how to mic/adjust it properly. Best Xmas present ever from my wife for sure!!!

And yes I play Rush. But I am also chasing the tone dragon that lives in my head. It's not Geddy's tone, it's my own that I consider "perfect". That "perfect" tone is yours and lives in your head. Worse yet it may not be perfect tomorrow.... ah the joy of music, it keeps the amplification industry ticking. This pedal definitely does more than "Geddy bass" and might help you find that dragon. Give it a try for sure.

It took a while, but I finally got my tone figured out. No more chasing. (for now).
The Geddy YYZ pedal into a preamp pedal. That's it!
Since I've kind of been trapped at home, I started learning how to record bass videos. No editing, just the raw bass along with the music. I've done 14 songs in about 6 days. This one I did yesterday really shows how the YYZ pedal can be used to "enhance" the tone without changing it.
Stay safe & healthy!

It took a little while, but I eventually settled on not using the Tight button. I let the preamp pedal handle something similar for now. That may change though.
Master: 11 o'clock, Low: just past noon, High: just past noon, Drive: Around 1 o'clock, Deep/Drive: Noon, Mid: 2 o'clock. Headphones always make the Drive seem louder. It took a while to figure that out. Playing though an amp or computer speakers, it's more tame.
Here's my first attempt from a few days ago. Left channel only. I was learning. The note clarity is fantastic with the YYZ.

Great video to wake up and see today! Really enjoyed your rendition here...thanks for posting.

I just ordered one of these!

And it doesn't work... Guitar to pedal, pedal to amp, 9V in the pedal... Nothing at all. No sound. Stomping on the button doesn't give me a heavy click or turn things on or off.

Am I doing something wrong or is this one a dud?

Yikes! Is the battery still good? Can you try it with an adapter? If those don't help, you'll have to return it.

Where did you purchase the pedal? The footswitch is an "actuator" that depresses a momentary TACT switch on the circuit board. There will be no "click" like with a DPDT type switch. Try it with a different set of cables and battery. If those are all working something may have been damaged in shipping. It's best to return it to the retailer for exchange. Let them deal with the warranty.

Yeah, tried it with different cords and a battery. All the same - nothing.

I did notice a smell when I put the pedal close to my face. That same smell you get when you have a burned out circuit of some sort. That hot electricity smell... So I think it's just a dud. I will be returning it.

And everywhere that I know of is sold out.
I tried buying the last one from Reverb, but 5 minutes after placing the order, they messaged me and said they had sold their last one an hour earlier and site quantity hadn't updated. They refunded me.
I then placed an order with Musicians Friend but I believe they order them from Tech 21 and don't keep stock (or it seems that way at least). Who knows when it'll ship.

So I'm without a Gedal until who knows when.

What power supply were you using other than a battery?
