Geddy Lee Sansamp Pedal!

These are nice. I'm wondering about the outputs. The description says " You can blend the Drive and Deep sections, or send them to a mixing board or two amplifiers via separate outputs ". Does that mean the outputs can be combined similar as the 2112

I'd like to know that myself.

Hopefully, @tech21nyc might chime in to clarify that for everyone.

I am gonna find out for you this week. On a side note, if anyone is gonna be at NAMM be sure to stop by the Tech 21 NYC booth #5635 and say hello!
FWIW, I experimented with mine a bit the other night. Regardless of whether I had it turned on or off when I unplugged the power, every time I plugged the power back in, it defaulted to off. Which is fine with me. I tried it 10-12 times. Not once did it turn on when I plugged the power back in (until I turned it on, of course).

That’s how mine is. And I prefer it that way.

Over in the DI-2112 thread Tim said that there is an internal jumper. It'll be able to combine the Deep and Drive channels to a single output

I knew about the jumper in the rackmount - but it's good to know they carried that over to the pedal version.

That definitely expands the versatility of this pedal to many more bassists with this option - good call by Tech21.

Some vintage Geddy with the TECH 21 NYC YYZ Pedal

Gefilter1001: I could watch your videos all day long. I am in the early stages of my 1 year wait for my ordered 4003a Jetglo. Yeah, long wait up here in Canada when ordering from Canada’s Long and McQuade’s. That said, you are stoking my anticipation. Thank you.

Marc

Just added the YYZ to the line up...used it all weekend!

Just curious how everyone else uses their YYZ with any other pedals or pre’s?

I’ve been using the dug over the past year and just purchased the YYZ, I’m really digging the YYZ tone and grit! Wile getting to learn the pedal using headphones I find myself wanting a little more lows wile using the tight button. Tight button depressed lows come back big but it’s a bit “woolly” or fuzz sounding! I tried the YYZ in front of the dp-3x dug but it seems it really tone shapes the YYZ and I loose some of the YYZ Magic. I took out my Ampeg SCR-DI (doesn’t get much use anymore) and put the YYZ in front of it and added little bit of lows and it seemed to keep the YYZ tone with added lows and very punchy!

I have full band practice with IEM’s tomorrow so I’m excited to see how the yyz mixes with the full band.

I use mine first in the chain as a cleanish / slightly gritty always on. It seems to add some midrange throatiness and grown & grit and responds well to dynamics of my playing. Tight switch in LOVE the tight switch!
Then I have an almost always on B3k that’s set pretty low gain just adding grit and grind on the mids and highs and Making the attack brighter. That’s the main sound into a Line 6 HX stomp. I have a Darkglass Alpha Omega in between the YYZ and B3K that I use for really aggressive & growly sounds. Happiest I’ve ever been with live my live sound. I keep a pretty healthy amount of the clean side blended in along the way as to not loose my lows and still sound like a bass. A dirty filthy bass bit still a bass :-)

I run mine into my Broughton SVPre when I want light-medium grind. Sometimes I also run it into a CAL Grizzly before the SVPre to tame the mids and highs a bit and use the Grizzly as more of a speaker sim. To me, the YYZ can sound a bit thin on its own.

I use a Helix floor and really don’t like any of the distortion pedal choices. I have the YYZ setup on an effects loop and call it up when I need the dirt and grind that the pedal adds to my signal.

Thanks for the feedback guys! Definitely helps, the YYZ is more an enhancer rather then a pre amp di like the dp-3x dug. I’m sure it can be but it does seem to work nice with other pedals! The yyz grit and mid bark is killer!
