Geddy Lee Video Interivew - Guitarworld

Great stuff! Geddy sounds so human in this interview, it's actually very inspiring to me. Seeing him noodle around on the bass reminds me of my own playing, and thinking of the fact that this guy has written a ton of my favorite songs makes me feel like one day I could do the same. He's such a humble guy and a terrific player.

I love the whole interview, but two things in particular stick out for me:

1) I like where he commented on which bass (the Jazz or the Rick) was used on which songs on Moving Pictures. I understand he's been asked and has answered this question before in previous interviews, but good to hear and see it rather than read it. Also, it was interesting that he didn't seem to be 100% sure about Limelight. I always thought that was a Jazz bass tune but he said it was the Rick; then he says "he thinks". It's been since the early 80's since I saw the video, but I thought I remember seeing him in the studio and having the Jazz; again, it's been so long I wouldn't be shocked if I were wrong.

2) It was cool to hear him comment on his use of his technique involving flamenco-ish playing to get that fast strumming. It's like it was described in previous threads on TB, but it was cool to hear it from him, plus seem him do it. It seemed effortless. So effortless that I had this confidence I could do it. Wow -- Not easy, at least not now. He must have more strength in his index finger than I do because I need to support mine with my thumb to keep it rigid enough to be accurate and consistent.
