He played the Jazz on the video,pretty sure it's the Wal on record. Notice how Mr Lifeson is playing one of his old Gibsons in the vid, which he's clearly not playing on the song, so perhaps Rush used their 'old' instruments to give the clip a different look?

Hmm, I thought he used the black Wal in the video? The same as he used in the "Time Stand Still" video...I'll have to drop by Youtube later.

I wish they'd release a chronicles pt II, as they have loads of videos! Roll The Bones has a pretty cool video.

I'm sorry, but this is not true. I don't even think Geddy got his Jazz until about 77/78 (it was a pawn shop purchase). Are you sure you saw him with a Vox and not his modified P-Bass (teardrop)? It would be interesting to know which biography are you referring to?

Chris2112 and PhR between them pretty much have it right, as far as can be ascertained.

Many impressive ones out there. For me though, it has to be the sublime "Digital Man". I think it is superb playing. Very inventive, nice improvisations to the main bass line. Fast, but not fast just to wank and play fast.

Great bass player.

For me it's YYZ. Matches my personal tastes du jour for technical prowess and listen ability. And correct me if I'm wrong but is that the only time Rush used that mode (not sure what it is -- some variant of melodic minor, Phrygian, or something along those lines?).

Was able to play it 20 years ago, and have recently picked it back up as a project, having not truly practiced bass over, oh, the past 12 years. I find that I underestimate the tempo in my head -- i.e. I can play it, but when I play along to the recording, whoa! Thank God no one's waiting for me to perfect it!

But I love many of those lines listed already, too, and in particular have always had a soft spot for Digital Man -- kind of an underdog in the Rush collection I always thought.
