Doing my regular troll thro' the 'Bay and came across this interesting one:

The initial claim is that Geddy used the bass to record Counterparts! Early '90s I think Geddy was still using the Wal and also the Jazz, but I'm sure there is someone out there how knows for sure! I'm pretty sure he didn't use this bad boy!

'Glad to see the seller has now added a disclaimer that the bass may not have been used by Geddy on Counterparts! Still not sure I would spend that sort of money (currently >$2600!) for three autographs on 300 bucks worth of bass!

i love how on the 'official document' declaring that it had been used by geddy and signed by rush, they didnt spell neil's last name right, and didnt even have alex's last name on there...

its a blatant fake.

but if someone is stupid enough to throw that much money at something that is such an obvious fake, they have every right to throw away their money.

Those bidders are idiots..Plain and simple.

More than likely, someone is putting insanely high bids on that so that someone doesn't get ripped off. Happens often in scam listings: scammer lists bogus item, nice people bid it the hell up, and then scammer has to pay percentage of closing cost. Nice person takes a neg (or uses a fake account), but someone else didn't get scammed, and the scammer owes eBay a percent of $6,000+

Apparently, there's a community of Martin guitar nuts that do this pretty frequently.
