gene simmons plays master of puppets riff in 84!

I was watching this video (which I had seen before, it is pretty terrible - you had to be there the appreciate the rumbling i guess) and at 2:19 I heard where he plays a riff and it sounds very similar to the guitar riff at the beginning of Master of Puppets by Metallica. I know how to play the master riff and its not exactly the same but pretty similar! Did anyone else notice this before??

Also I just realized at 1:39 he plays a riff similar to 'the thing that should not be!' Where did he come up with this stuff back then?
