Hi Matt, If you would put a price tag on it what would that be you think? And yes, it does have a BADASS bridge on it. The third slanted pickup also concerns me as well.

This isn't the OP's personal instrument, so I think the question is ok. Mods would likely have already deleted it if it was a rule breaker. I do wonder if some posters are aware of the nuance in the rule and ask value posing as if they are looking to buy the bass, but in reality, they already have. Not sure in this case. But, it looks like the OP got the info they needed and ghosted / lownered the thread.

Mods: please correct me if I'm wrong about the above rule.

Often 'what's it worth' threads are veiled "I'm trying to sell" threads, thus the rule. Either way, safer to be a supporting member to deal with value.

I always took this rule as to mean that asking values values on any instrument that you owned or wanted to buy. I'm sure I've seen mods close threads like this, but then again I've been a member for a long time and memory can be hazy. Either way, I'm happy to be wrong but OP does seem to have disappeared.

Cool. I don't really know the answer either and certainly not trying to call anything out, just looking for clarification myself on the rules.

Why buy something like this? I would not go near something as dodgy looking as this. There is enough doubt that it`s a 70`s P to start with, if it is genuine it has been badly modded and the chances of moving it on in the future as a genuine Fender would be difficult.

I would rather buy a Squier P bass.

Harsh crowd in here. The headstock looks legit with correct logo and the ambered nitro coat, never seen a copy nail that convincingly.

If it played well, the truss rod worked, with frets in decent shape and didn't weigh 12 lbs, I would 100% buy it. How much for? I don't know but I would definitely rather this than any Squier with the exception of a JV perhaps. But I probably wouldn't pay more than an American Pro Fender unless it played really, really well. I'm sure it's probably not even worth that to most (especially in the US) but where I live any 70s Fenders go for thousands. The lines and slanted J pickup are unfortunate but it's nowhere near the worst modded bass I've seen.

It's definitely not fake like some people are proposing, I guess the body could potentially be from a 70s-80s MIJ bass if you wanted to be a cynic.

That said, if it doesn't play well I wouldn't touch it with a ten foot pole.

When a fine new USA model is within reach at that price, I won't travel any further than necessary to score a good sounding, working, playable instrument.

Some however, just think old, AHEM(!), 'vintage' = quality.
