Genz Benz GBE1200 with mixed impedance/cabs

Tried doing a search, and probably has already been addressed, though I would like to ask a more specific query, being, would the GB be able to drive both Schroeder 1212R cabinets at the same time, one at 4ohm and the other at 8ohm?

Will there be a volume difference?
 
Yes, the GBE1200 will drive both cabs fine, and the math says that there will be a volume difference (the 4 ohm cab should be louder). However, I suspect that either Jeff or Andy will be along here any minute to tell you exactly what will happen - they are pretty awesome that way.

The amp doesn't care... set it to 2ohms, and you will be fine with your 2.67 ohm total nominal impedance.

The bad news is that you have two identical (other than impedance) cabs, one getting 2/3's the power of the amp, and the other getting 1/3'd. Kind of strange, and if you really push that rig, you might find that one cab reaches its limits long before the other.

No damage will be done as long as you listen for 'trouble' from the 4ohm cab when you are really cranking and adjust the volume accordingly.
 
Ke's correct, the power sharing will be such that the 4 ohm cabinet will receive 2/3 the rated power (roughly 1000 watts at 2.7 ohms x 2/3 or 650 watts) and the 8 ohm cabinet will receive 1/3 of 1000 watts.

If you are reasonable and the 4 ohm cabinet will handle 650 watts without damage, then you will end up with an ok solution. YOu will also receive some low end extension and increased sensitivity with the two cabinets but the difference will not be quite as noticeable as with two identical cabinets.
