The Reverend Club (part 8)

I’ve heard back from Reverend and they are going to send me a new pickup when the new batch arrives in their next shipment from the factory. They were willing to RMA the bass to send to them for their techs to refit a pickup from a triad 5 from their stock, but I’d rather not ship the bass back and forth for just a cosmetic pickup issue. I’m willing to wait until the fresh stock arrives and swap it out myself, unless the pickup fails before that time and then I’ll have to send it in I guess. Reverend was very flexible with the options for handling this.
Nice! Good to hear positive things about Reverends customer service. I heard they’re very helpful but I’ve never had any need to contact them. Good luck with the install. Let us know how you get on!

Also I asked what strings came stock on this bass and the answer is: “Our stock strings are either D'addario XL 45-125 or a bulk string from our factory with the same specs, depending on supply chain at the time of production.”

So unfortunately I have no idea what strings are actually on this bass. The ball ends are gold not colored like typical D’addario strings, so I really have no clue. That is unfortunate as I find I like these stock strings quite a bit but I have no idea what to buy to replace them when needed!

I think they are SIT's. That's what Sweetwater is listing as a spec. Likely Powerwound nickels. I hope this helps!

I’m not sure that is the case anymore? Tim from Reverend specifically told me they use D’Addario XL or a bulk equivalent.

Sure they used to use SIT I wasn’t aware that they’d switched over to D’Addario. In any case when I change out the stock strings I normally gravitate towards XL/NYXL or sometimes Fender strings which I beleive are made by D’Addario anyways

I’ve sold many basses in the past but there’s one I regret selling and still can’t get it out of my head. The only reason I sold it was because I had a ridiculous collection at the time and was trying to thin out the herd. I justified selling it because I bought a Mercalli 5 and you know…same tone with an extra string, why do I need the 4 string…blah blah blah. This is my 2022 Mercalli in Gunmetal…the only two pics I have of it…

I really wish I hadn’t sold this. Now I have to go buy another one. Watch this space!

My Mercalli has arrived! It seems I underestimated the sparkliness of the Black Sparkle. When the light catches it at a certain angle it’s a full-on glitterbomb. I’ve attempted to capture it with my poor photography ‘skills’. Will take some more pics after I’ve given it a set up but here she is…

Wow that looks amazing! I love the finishes Reverend comes up with. When I get home, I will post a picture of my recently acquired Mercalli 4 in Orchid Pink.

I’m a day late but here it is! When I first saw the orchid pink, I knew I had to have it, but by the time I had the cash the new colors were out and nobody except this shop ~3 hours away had a pink one. I got them to ship it to me, but for some reason, UPS returned the package to the store on 2 separate occasions, so I drove ~6 hours round trip to get it. So far, it’s been worth it, I love this instrument.
