Genz Benz Shuttle 3.0-10T Pretty Cool Combo

I was honestly going to buy an Ampeg B-15 that I "wanted". Ask a few around here I poked around trying to figure out a way.

However my local music store here in town where I buy my strings had a Genz Benz Shuttle 3.0-10T and every time I go there for strings and such I plug into it and have been pretty knocked out of what comes from that single 10. Don't start shooting but I think it sounds better than the Shuttle 6.0-12T. Anyway practicality got the best of me and I pulled the trigger on one. I have had it for a week and it's just fun. There are no two ways about it. It's light and pretty dang loud for it's size and of course sounds respectable. The latter two attributes are the two I have found hardest to harness in a single package.

I have been playing my TC rig for the past six months with no complaints other than when I want to jam in tight quarters I've got nothing to bring that makes me smile. This little guy does the trick. I am thinking of taking it to my Wednesday night coffee house gig and see if I can lighten my load!

Anybody else have this feeling of euphoria for this little tyke? Anybody using them with an electric bass and an extension cabinet?

My Genz Benz Shuttle 3.0-8T sounds great for coffee house gigs. WAY more than loud enough. I've also owned a 6.0 and prefer the FET-only 3.0 - much creamier tone. I use it with a Fender Aerodyne Jazz bass and an acoustic fretless 4-string Tacoma Thunderchief with Status black nylon tapewounds. Very nice, close to an upright vibe. Here are two recordings w/the acoustic from a recent coffee house gig.

EDIT: As it turns out, the guy who sold me this combo was wrong when he said it was a Model 8T. It's a 10T. Duh!

I love this thing. Light and awesome.

The last two gigs I had, I just threw the head into the side of my gigbag, and plugged it into some spare PA woofers at the venue. The sound was massive. Going anywhere beyond 12 o'clock gain and 9 o'clock on the volume was drowning out everyone else.

One of my favourite small amps. I still think for practice, small gig and studio use, the Shuttle 3.0 is impossible to beat for value. And this is coming from a guy using a LMII.

I sold one one TB for $285 when I was in a pinch. Seriously regret it.

I got mine a few days ago and had a good play with it yesterday. I'm very, very pleased. While I'm nowhere near as experienced as some of you guys on here, the Shuttle 3.0-10T is clearly a massive tonal step up from my old Trace BLX-80. It makes all the pickup combinations on my bass sound distinct and full of character. It's also got twice the power and is literally three times lighter.

I sooooooo wanted one of these back when I was looking for a small rig for my upright. That bass whisperer dude did a nice review of them with BG and UB. I just couldn't swing the cash and ended up with a small SWR off ebay. I would love to have a rig that I could carry with one of my tiny arms!

Just got it out again the other day, and wondered why I ever stopped using it!! I am actually thinking of getting the way overpriced extension cabinet to go along with it.............I bet it is actually a stout rig with addition of that cabinet!

Holy crap, just today I bought an Ampeg B-15, but was so unsettled by the tweeter's constant hiss that I took it back and got the Shuttle 3.0-10T. Then I saw this thread - same conundrum ('cept I'm using a Ray34 instead of a Stingray... Same difference?)

This thing produces only the sound that leaves the bass, and nothing else. Way better than the Behringer I had, which could hardly differentiate between two notes. For a little practice/bedroom amp, this thing packs a punch, and it's good to know that I'll be able to hook it up to other/better speakers in the future.

I used to have the 3.0-10T and loved it. I went to a 6.0-12T as I needed just a little bit more for my non-PA gigs. I almost went back. The FET only preamp is VERY nice. Add a 1x10 extension cab if you need a little more. I did that as well.

.............The STL-10T Extension Cabinet! :cool: I'm thinking it will really make this one of my favorite rigs! :D

I loooooove mine. Best sounding, smallest rig I've ever had. Granted I'm not up against a metal band with Marshall stacks but I've had no trouble at all keeping up with drums and guitars for stage volume in medium sized clubs. It's nice to have the smallest amp in the band.

There is no downside to this amp for my needs. If it was lost or stolen, I would immediately buy another.

I had almost the same pre purchase experience but when I finally pulled the trigger, I opted for the 6.0/12t combo as giving me more venue flexibility. I then added the matching 12 cab for even MORE flexibility. Now I have a 3.0/8t on layaway. I guess you might say I "bracketed." :D
