genz benz shuttle driving another amp?

Hi,
I have a shuttle 6.0 head and I have a question, might be a dumb one but can I use this head to drive another amp (a Fender bassman 250/210 combo to be precise)? The Fender has an effects send and return as does the Shuttle. I'm a dummy so I don't really understand what the shuttle manual means when it says :
EFFECTS LOOP – This loop is located right before the Master Volume control and is also intended as a Preamp Out / Power Amp In connection for possible “chaining” of amplifiers in
a Master / Slave configuration. The effects “loop” contains a “normal switch” in the receive jack that interrupts the signal path when a plug is inserted into the receive jack. The send jack may be used for an aux. output without breaking the signal path.


If I can use it to drive the Fender, do I connect the cable from the shuttle's send into the Fender's return?

Thanks in advance for any info.

I have used my ShuttleMAX 9.2 and streamliner at times through a Fender TB1200 power amp section at times when i needed to run a 2 Ohm load.. ie. two 4 ohm 810 cabs....
Worked great.... Had all teh EQ and features and the great DI of the Genz while being able to run at 2 ohms LOUD.. IIRC i ran out of the master FX send since that is the PREAMP out....

Let me give you a little help here, as well as a benefit to others who may have the same (or similar) question.

Your Shuttle effects send is a pre-master volume post everything else signal. For driving an external amp, it is ment to drive the stage at the input of the power amp before the slave amp's master volume control. MOST bass amps have a serial effects loop that is pre master volume, so the topology is the same at the Shuttle's and when you take the effects send of the Shuttle into the effects return of amp that's driving the speakers. The master volume of the second amp operates just like a normal master volume.

In the case of the Bassman 250, this amp uses a parallel effects loop. This means that there are 2 signal paths (primary or dry, and secondary or wet). There is a balance (blend) control that allows the user to choose between the two signal paths into the power amp. For this application, the balance control must be fully in the wet (or effects return jack) position for signal to pass properly. The master volume will then function as a typical master volume control. On the Bassman 250, as well as some other amps with a parallel loop, a better input to use is the aux input which is after the effects loop signal path, and using this, all you have to worry about is the master volume control.
