genz benz shuttlemax vs. streamliner

I have a questions for anyone thats used both of the shuttlemax and streamliner and or are familiar with them. I cant hear any notable difference between the two amps. Anyone feel the same or could the tubes just be tired?

I recently bought a used genz streamliner 900 used. It seems to work fine. I've only used it at home for about 5-10 then in the studio last night for 2 hours last night. The BLUE inner light didnt come on at all in that 10 min period at home. It did however come on last night but not at first. I suddenly noticed it was on about 15 min in. Today I've seen it come on in the morning after a few min of using it. Then an hour later driving in pretty good for 20 min with gain on and all dials at 12 and it hadnt come on yet. Do you know if this is normal? Should I be concerned about this delay?

There's quite a bit of voicing differences between the two amps. You can make them sound similar with some eq work, but the native voicing of the Streamliner is different.

There were some defective blue LEDs that didn't show themselves as bad for years, they can be intermittent. They are purely cosmetic.

I've owned both and they were way different. The Streamliner has huge, clean lows, is a little soft in the mids and was a little difficult to tame with the cabs I had (Avatar neo 2x10). Definitely an old school flavor that filled the room. The Shuttlemax is much more cutting and way more flexible than the Streamliner. The SM 9.2 has two channels (FET and Tube Pre) and an active 4 band eq with parametric mids and you can dial in almost any sound. I love mine.

I have a Streamliner 900 and had a Max 12.0. The 900 sounds good with everything at noon; the Max needed some tweaking and felt a lot thinner sounding. The best thing with the 900 is you can set the preamp gain high for that nice breakup when you dig in. It stays nice and clean until you really hit that sweet spot. Then it is like sauce on the potatoes, if you got my point. Definitely tube amp flavour despite the class D-power amp...

I like I can get close but then have the options to have something totally different if needed.

I owned both a Streamliner 900 and a Shuttlemax 12.0, but not at the same time. The Shuttlemax was far more versatile tonally and it had a lot of very useful features. The Streamliner was more of a one trick pony, but a very good one. I have to say that my P-bass through the Streamliner and a Bergantino NV610 = probably the best old school rock/R&B sound I've ever gotten out of any rig. Selling the Streamliner was a regretful decision - I'm tempted to try to score another one, especially now that I have a Genz Benz 410 cab that would pair nicely with it.

That wobe a great choice to use with that cab, or try the Kinetix 800 which is a much more versatile and "alive" next generation of the Streamliner.
