Genz find

Would a 115 Hartke hydrive be better than 410?

(I'm partial to the Hartke only cuz Larry is a cool guy)... if there is reason to believe that Hartke's not gonna get it done, please let me know your opinions on that too.

"Better" is such of a subjective term that it's impossible to say.

I think if you could state your tone goals clearly, then there are a good many folks on this board with more experience and knowledge than me who can provide an answer.

I've heard Victor Wooten's Hydrive rig and thought it sounded sweet.

great deal. If you PM me you "particulars", I'll send you a new top for it that isn't so scratched up.

So, I didn't see who Hasbeen was until I got home a bit ago. On the mobile version of TB I didn't see his title/affiliation. I am now embarrassed about asking about Hartke stuff ... although I do contend that Larry is freaking cool (I've gotten to chat / hang a couple times in the Sam Ash Bass Lounge in NYC a few times with him).

Hasbeen - you are making me a fan for life already. Your response and the MONSTROUS tone I got out of the Shuttle when I tapped it into my Ampeg 410 20 minutes ago. Holy shnikeys! How do you guys do it?!? Seriously: WOW!

Can't wait to gig with it in two weeks. (Why do gigs always space that way when new gear enters your life?!?)

no worries. Larry is indeed cool. I played Hartke cabs back in the 80's.

I own a 3.0 shuttle combo AND the hydrive 410 (LH1000 too) and i tried this pairing a couple of weeks ago at a gig. It really filled the stage! The Shuttle's cab has a little kickstand on it so i could angle it up towards me, i'm tall:D. I am pretty sure the 6.0 would be just better:hyper:

Was it "bass-y" enough? My fear is losing low end...

I thought it was. Our soundman loves that 410. I sold my Ampeg 15 and got that. I was using My EBMM Sterling and and tried out my new Epi T-Bird Pro and i heard nothing but good compliments on the new rig. My soundman described it as "tighter and more focused". We also do some Motown and a little 70's funk too. We are only a 4 pc band, lead vocals included, so i need to fill a lot of sonic space in those tunes. I really believe you will be happy. Now on the Genz side, sell your kidney and buy the Uber 212 cab!!!! That is a MONSTER!!!! A friend of mine has one paired with a GK MB fusion head and he loves it. 1400 bucks though:eek:

Why can't I bring myself to selling my SVT3-Pro?!? I had a buyer! I played them both side by side. The Genz is a much cleaner sound - full of bottom and clarity. But the SVT-3 is a little richer, old school sounding. Both drive my Ampeg 410hlf beautifully ... Anyone else make the move from Ampeg to Genz that wouldn't mind sharing...?

To close the loop here. Hasbeen came through. Today, after it had slipped my mind - as I am so happy with the product - the UPS man showed up with a package from Jeff Genzler. The promised new top plate for my used super find. Genz Benz has made a fan for life with a simple gesture. Thank you so much. You guys rule!!!

Before and after.
