Genz Uber 115?

Well Kirk and I were talking on the phone yesterday and the thought of a 9.0 pushing dual Uber115's made us both excited... and for nothing because there is none. But what a nice thought. Make them a bit compact so you use a pair of them with no other cabinets...delicious don't you think?

Delicious indeed, but I'd like to see the 115 with a 6.5" mid crossed over at about 1 kHz to fill that midrange hole. An Uber 115 with a 6.5" mid under an Uber 210 with a Shuttle 9.0 might just be the ideal way to execute the 210/115 stack. I just got a 3-way cab with an Eminence 3012HO, an 18 sound 6ND410 6.5" mid, and a Selenium tweeter on top of my Uber 212 and that system rocks with the Shuttle 12.0. The smooth mid presence of that 6.5" mid fits very nicely with those 3 twelves. Using the tube pre with mid scoop on gave a monster slap tone; incredible depth, definition, and snap, but not harsh. Taking off the mid scoop gives a fat, rich fingerstyle tone that sits very well in the mix. I have a 500 watt 2-way cab due in about a month loaded with Faital 15" woofer and 6.5" mid neo drivers which should provide 40 - 8000 Hz. I'll lay that down on the Uber 212 and check that out as well. :bassist:

If it can be compact that's all good. But not at the sacrifice of missing good lows, and of course without boominess.

I asked roger a while time ago that i would love to see a 1x15 that had a Mid driver without a tweeter possibly..

And after Denis and I talked i figured i would email Roger once more.

I wouldnt need a 15 cab to go to 18k, but if it went to 8k or 9k that would be great.... Sort of like a large studio playback monitor that is tight yet big sounding.. good growl, and smooth extended non boomy bottom with a clear mid and not a spiky sizzly top end... If you would want sizzle get a 1x10 cab with tweeter...

That would be the ticket.

I bought a pair of Bag End 15's for that very reason. They are compact and easy to move around, offer great flexibility and sound great.....probably not as great as a pair of G-B Uber 15's though. I could be tempted as I really like all of the G-B bass equipment I've ever owned. I'm currently down to a Shuttle 6.0 and a pair of NeoX 212T's.

Yeah the reason i got the bug up my tush was because last year i did a gig and brought out my old Bag End S15B-D .. The deep cab... And then Dennis had to re kindle those burning embers when we talked the other day.. Thanks Dennis.. Really!

It sounded so freaking good on that gig with the GBE1200.. So balanced from top to bottom for a single 15 no tweeter.. And i thought , how great would it be to have a 6 inch mid driver to bring out a little more clarity.. So that is when i emailed GB/Roger...

Maybe we will have a surprise at NAMM '10? Dont know.

Dennis, you holdin' out on me..?
You know i have friends that work on the docks over there.:smug: yaknowwhatimsayin'

Dood, you were silent on that 9.0 deal... I bet you would not have given up that info even if they water boarded you..:D

But these days i just got a new car that does not have a hatch... Real bad idea.. anyway size does matter to me now..

My old Honda gig car could fit a refrigerator in it and get 41 MPG too.. Oops sold it!

OK dual Uber 115s with my new 9.0 would be killer!!!!!!
... but then it WAS Dennis' quote that "the Neox 112 is the best 115 on the market"... oh the irony, oh the possibilities.
Yea, Dennis you didnt mention the 9.0 to me either, you got something to tell us on an Uber 115??? Huh?, huh?, do ya? Huh??????

My 2 cents~ I would love to see an Uber 115 3-way cab in the same size box as the 212 & 410. That would give the 15 enough volume to do it's job and the mid and tweeter to fill the entire frequency spectrum. Kind of like Greenboy's Earful ala Genz Benz.

I have never heard a single 15" cab that I have liked (just like single 12's) but.....I have always said that one of the best bass rigs I have ever played & heard played by others was a Mesa 400+ with (2) Mesa road ready 115 cabs.
For some reason dual 115 cabs sound amazing (too my ears anyway) and that Mesa combination was the best I have heard to date....from any manufacturer, so if GB is going to go for a Uber 115 cab it would have to outperform what I have heard from that Mesa setup...
Then I might have to break down and buy some :D

Oh yeah, I also need to start playing bass again :bawl:

I asked this once before when discussing an Uber 112, but can a single driver cab be considered "uber," even a 115? Sounds to me like two of them would make a much more uber cab. I'm with Vinny, sort of...I do like the sound of one of my B-15 cabs, but two of them is so much better in every way.
