Genzler 410-3. An Amazing Cab.

If you are considering a cab, put this one at the top of your list. You may see the lack of a tweeter and the 6 3" array and wonder if it's just another gimmick to attract buyers.... Oh no - no, no, no...not a gimmick!

I've been playing for about 30 years, so within my perpetually limited budget, I have had the opportunity to play through a few different cabs. Mostly mainstream stuff - Fender, Ampeg, Hartke (original), SWR (original), Eden, and Bergantino. All did a good job for me and were quality cabs.

BUT! - I just picked up a Genzler 410-3. I have to say that this is hands-down the best amp I've ever played through. The depth of low end was surprising, and paired with the clarity and well rounded mids to highs, it produced a complete picture of what I was looking for in my sound. This cab is superb. For years, I was a solid Eden player - thought I was happy with that, but this put my Eden to bed... as well as my Bergantino.

I'm not a tech. Couldn't tell you any tech reasons for the difference in what I'm hearing, but the difference was very noticeable. The 6 3" array is far superior to tweeters in every way (IMHO). It gives me the high end I want for slap without a shred of harshness. The 10's sound deeper and somehow seem to fill up my practice room... When I A-B it with my Berg or Eden, they sound thinner. Almost as if the Genzler sound is 3D and the others are 2D...

Just a simple review in case you're interested. Other brands and boutique cab makers do wonderful work I'm sure (so many cabs... so little time...), but I am confident you won't go wrong with Genzler.

As icing on the cake, I also received a call from Mr. Genzler himself asking how I felt about the cab! Talk about 5 star customer service! Had a great conversation with him... Nothing makes you feel like you matter like a one-on-one convo with the Man... I suppose I have become a Genzler Zealot!

I'm debating between this and a Barefaced Big Twin as my be-all-end-all (for a few years at least) bass rig. Your review definitely helps me lean a little more towards the Genzler... what are you driving it with? A Magellan?

I also want to know what you are driving it with! Just picked up a Genzler Magellan 800 and looking for something less choked in the highs than my Rumble 210.

I’ve been playing the Genzler bass array speakers since the first model - the 12-3 - was released. There are a number of features that feed what you were hearing, blu-snafu.

The 3 inch speakers are arranged in a line array that broadens horizontal dispersion, allowing you to hear pretty much the same sound from your cab regardless of where you’re standing.
That they are cones results in a certain smoothness that often is missing in tweeters. The cabinets sound seamless through every register.
The design allows the crossover to be lower than is often the case (800 Hz) in two way designs which lets the woofers be woofers while the mids and up are carried by the line array. In the 410 cab, this also eliminates the beaming that comes with most 410 cabs.
The cabs are all relatively light weight and the 410 has a smaller footprint than many other companies’ offerings.

I have the BA12-3 and the BA10-2 and love them both. I have no need for a 410 but if I did, the Genzler would be the one. FWIW, the BA15-3 is getting rave reviews. The Genzler cabs all play nicely with each other so mixing and matching works well. A number of folk are mixing the 115 with the 410 or the 210 and are reporting great results.
