Yes, I've become a fanboy of Genzler Amplification with the old Genz Benz Contour and now the MG-350 and 210 extension.

After 5 days of tweaking, cranking, play separates and cab together I can only make one recommendation ... a foot switch to go between contours A and B.

No matter, I can use my fingers.

This thing is what I'd hoped it would be.

I'm new here....
Been an expensive week.. Monday I bought a GR 212 Slim.
Decided NEXT YEAR, I'm going to upgrade my amp head situation.
I considered 2 different heads. The GR 800 and the Magellan 800.
A Magellan came up in the classifieds, pretty inexpensively. Has some dinged corners.
Seller says it works perfectly. He has stellar feedback

I've spent more this week in my rig than my last 5 rig combined.
That would be funnier if it weren't true.. I never spent much on my rig...
I REALLY like the contour circuit on the Mag.
Excited to get it!!

I think in this case, you will find that sometimes, you do get what you pay for.

The Genlzer Magellan Pre pedal has a switch for Contour A/B. I agree it would be nice to have on the amp. One switch for contour and one for drive.

Yes, the Acoustic cab is real, but I don’t use it. It’s a prop (belongs to Robbie Krieger of the Doors fame) and I don’t want to ruin it in any way.

Had my Bass Acoustic Array Pro at a gig a few days ago, and the bass player on the gig (I was on piano) looked at it and said he had heard of them but never seen one; he had been thinking of buying an AER. After hearing my Genzler, I think Jeff is going to notch another sale...he loved it (he's a FINE jazz upright player).

Obviously there are workarounds, but having phantom power on this combo WOULD be a great feature. The AI Coda 411 first series I have has it. Any plans to add that feature?

Here's a fun one - about ten years ago I was driving with my Neo 2x12 in the back seat and had to slam the breaks to avoid hitting a car. Some of the plastic on the back of the cab broke, including the nut holding the speaker cord input. I've never bothered fixing it since but am in the midst of tackling some long overdue projects and this has been nagging at me for years.

What size nut do I need to fasten that sucker up?

Thank you both! I thought I had either read or heard that the amp DID provide phantom power on the mic inputs, but my friend and I didn't see any switches when he was checking it out on the gig which made me second-guess myself. Looked at the description of the amp on Jeff's site this AM, and didn't see mention of phantom power in the specs either, which prompted my question here. I probably just missed it..sorry to bother you both, and thanks for the reassurance!

Edit: Just checked again, and phantom power is indeed mentioned in the "Description" portion. I had just looked at the "Specifications" portion, and didn't see it there.

This is a major reason why I spent as much on an amp and cab as I did my custom Drake basses. When you can deal with the folks who designed and built the amps, you have a big leg up. It took me years to realize an amp and cab are just as much an instrument as the guitar.

My last gig was sadly an ampless gig.
My next gig is an outdoor venue and I will get to crank my Genzler rig. Can’t wait!

When I first got my settled on Genzler rig of Magellan 800, BA 210, and BA 115, we were outdoors but I didn’t give it a real test without PA support until after the gig. It sounded massive.

I just received a BA2-210-3 to go along with my BA-15-3. Wow, what a rig, it sounds amazing and hits like a sledgehammer. Most notably, the 210 adds more articulation and upper midrange that I kind of missed with the 15 by itself. Playing the 210 by itself, obviously it doesn't have the low end of the 15, but a bit of bass boost on the EQ and it's a little monster. I'm inclined to bring the whole rig to my next rehearsal, even though I'll only have the master at 10:00 lol.
