I just wanted to chime in with kudos to @Jeff Genzler and crew for designing reliable and great sounding gear. Did an outside gig yesterday, it was hot and the Kinetix 800 was in direct sunlight for a few hours, worked like a charm (and the top could have been used to grill burgers if necessary ). Really loving this amp!!!

Pics and details to come later, but after 18 months of mewling about how fate kept getting between me and a new Genzler system, on Saturday Greg from @RocketMusic spent 3 hours helping me choose. He lined up a Magellan 800 and a Kinetix through a BA-112 2 and a Magellan combo. Amazing sounds.

I walked out the proud owner of a MG350 combo and new old stock BA-210, with @Jeff Genzler's signature, no less.

Cannot say enough about how well I was treated or how difficult it was to choose between the options.

I'm officially a fanboy of Genzler and @RocketMusic

Not exactly your situation, but very similar, in that I'm playing keys and bass thru the same head and cab.
Here's how I set up my rig for Zeppelin gigs.

I'm using my 410-3 cabinet with either Mag-800 or Kinetix heads. If I'm playing outdoors, I might bring my single 12-3 to pair with that, but usually the 410-3 gives me everything I need for stage volume. We always have PA support at our gigs.

I have my keyboard (Korg Kronos) sending direct to FOH and one aux output to my bass head aux input for those songs I'm playing bass in my LH. I'm not sending all my keys patches in my Combi thru my bass head, just a bass dedicated patch, for a little extra low-end. FOH/sound guy never complains and I have the volume and tone of the bass patch approximately matching what I send there through my bass, so the audience does not hear much difference in tone or volume between when I'm playing bass only, or LH bass on the keys. YMMV

I appreciate the response. I was initially leaning towards the NC212 initially (for aesthetics and because 2x12s are what I've been used to for a while), but I also want something that's fairly neutral. I have stayed away from 4x10s in the past because of deep lows, scooped mids, and peaky upper mids. I realize the array changes a good bit of that. How would you characterize the sound of the 410-3?

good goes in, great comes out. that's how I describe it. I'm not a good describer of speaker cabs. either I like them or not. and I love my Genzlers.

I loved the sound of the Kinetix. It really has a different vibe than the Mag 800. My decision was based entirely on the bands I play in, what I would use the most and the flexibility of adding a 210 or going with just the BA-10-2

Yes it will. We use soft rubber feet that have a lot of "stick" to them so it will not slide off.

On Saturday I had my first gig with my Genzler rig. We played outdoors on a gazebo at a winery, so the room is size infinity. We had the mixing board on a table about 30' away from the stage, and I was back there playing over my wireless, and before I turned myself up in the PA, I could hear the Magellan 800 head and BA-15-3 naked and they sounded warm and full even back there. On stage, flat EQ with just a little bit of contour A and I could hear and feel my bass just fine. I'm very satisfied with this gear, and I'd like to thank Jeff for helping me choose the right setup.

The bass is a Sadowsky Metro Express J/J.

May I ask what stand you use for the 112? I have just joined the family with a MG350 combo and 1st series NOS 210 str. Neither fits on my old amp stand that Used with my Rumble 40.

I think it depends on if you get stuck standing right in front of the stack, then the double SLT would probably let you hear yourself better.
The audience (or your bandmates) probably couldn't tell the difference.

We designed the 2 versions (SLT,STR) to offer the player the most flexibility when stacking these cabs. It is a personal choice. I often recommend using an SLT/STR arrangement. With the slant cab on the bottom and straight on top, then BOTH baffles align in the same slanted plane and tilt slightly up at the player. I feel this offers a little more immediate response to the notes. This is just what I've experienced.

Well, my Kinetix 800 arrived and I couldn’t be more stoked! For never having owned Genzler before, I am incredibly pleased at the possible sounds and thoughtfulness off all the features that went into this amp. Thanks Jeff!

Question for fellow Genzler users. Is there anyone that is using the Kinetix 800 that also has experience with the GK Fusion 800S? I had the GK for a while and I think it also has three preamp tubes like the Kinetix. I loved the preamp on the GK, but did not mesh with the EQ and voicing. For those that have played both, if any, how is the Kinetix tube preamp vs the GK? The thought of having that preamp again with a much better sounding EQ similar to what I have in the Magellan, is very intriguing. I could really get down to a tiny board with that set up as I could use the DI out of the Kinetix instead of my tube DI pedal.

If I were to look at the Kinetix in the future, I would definitely keep around my Magellan as it just sounds really good and I would not want to part with something that I know I can count on every time. I recently played an Ampeg SVT3 and loved the preamp sound on it and the EQ and voicing, but I worry about getting an older amp and know there is a weird bias issue those can have.

But there are severalgood reasons to own both the Magellan and Kinetix heads at the same time.

I will use the K for my rock gigs. The M for country, bluegrass, blues, Americana, or pop gigs I might get involved in.

I'm new here....
Been an expensive week.. Monday I bought a GR 212 Slim.
Decided NEXT YEAR, I'm going to upgrade my amp head situation.
I considered 2 different heads. The GR 800 and the Magellan 800.
A Magellan came up in the classifieds, pretty inexpensively. Has some dinged corners.
Seller says it works perfectly. He has stellar feedback

I've spent more this week in my rig than my last 5 rig combined.
That would be funnier if it weren't true.. I never spent much on my rig...
I REALLY like the contour circuit on the Mag.
Excited to get it!!

If my playing time increases in the next year or two, I would add a Kinetix. It really has a different sound and tone than the Magellan. Right now, the 350c with an BA210 extension should handle all my needs from wineries to outdoor gigs. I've been playing with the settings for the past few days and am falling deeply in love with it.
