Carry Hilliard's had a place in Statesboro, too, but when I was in the 'boro a few weeks ago, they didn't look open. Sorry it's taken me so long to get back to this forum. I can't say anything yet but I've been involved with a huge web project for a well-known guitar retailer... totally redesigning their site's interface and user experience.

It'll launch soon so then I can point and say I did that. It's the same thing I do for SPECTOR... besides take all of their product photos and do all of their branding work... ads and the like.

So I've been slammed lately.

And YES! Williams Seafood. Right before the old iron bridge they tore down and replaced with a new bridge over the wetlands there... The last land before hitting the stretch of HWY 80 that has Fort Pulaski.

When I was a kid we used to cross the old iron bridge to drive to Tybee. Savannah has grown so much since then.

As for the Hilliards... I know that the sons took it over when the parents died in a plane crash I believe. One of the Hilliard boys had a red Ferrari Testarossa he'd drive around town in. Man... that was almost 20 years ago.

I'm getting old. It sucks. Savannah was a great place to grow up and sometimes I miss it. But it's changed so much. And Los Angeles is an experience. This place is so beautiful and yet crazy at the same time. I'd rather remember Savannah before all the shopping plazas and fast food joints. Back when it was an hour drive through untouched saltwater creeks to get to the beach.

When White Bluff Road was two lanes. And there was nothing but woods past St. Joseph's Hospital on Abercorn. I remember taking my car mud-bogging in the huge muddy clearing that would become the Savannah Mall back in 1989.

Yeah. I sometimes miss Georgia. It's a beautiful State. Enjoy it for me fellas.

We've talked with Mellow Mushroom (the owner came to one of our Crowbar shows)... they would rather us do an acoustic set..... we're thinking of it... but then I have to arrange all of our songs for that...

Charlie B's has been an option for a while but the rule at the Crow Bar was "you play anywhere else in town and wont get booked here again"... so we'll see =D... contacts are always welcome feel free to pst me =D

Anywhere else on that side of the state? lol... where I'm at is in the dead center of South GA, 1hr (minimum/avg) to just about anywhere decent... we've played a few places in Columbus and ventured across the bored to Alabammy and God's waiting list, I mean Florida.... anything decent works for us =D

Well they aren't getting away with it now, they closed down.... it was a pretty silly thing... when the band first started we had a really small place in Albany that we played... and went to talk to them (in person even) and were told that because we have/do play at X we weren't allowed to play there.... was silly.... we eventually got in though.... and we were invited to play a bunch of other places too... but turned them down to keep playing there.... FML lol

Hey fellow GA Bassist! Just checking back in, it's been a while since I've dropped in. Trying to recover from this past week of nothing but work. Fed over 10000 people in three days at GSU. That is my gig.

I didn't grow up in Savannah, but I feel like I did. All of my mom's family is from there, so all holidays and the bulk of my summers were spent down there. The Nancy Hank (old school passenger train) used to run from Atlanta to Savannah, and my folks had no worries putting me on that train and sending me to Savannah for a month or so every summer. So I remember alot of what you are describing, but Savannah is still cool. Go down town, and park on Bull St, the start walking...all the way to River St. About the only place that could ever compete with the atmosphere down there is pre-katrina NOLA.
I think they stopped allowing public drinking on St. Patty's day which is a shame. Like the old joke goes, when you go to Atlanta, they ask you what you do for a living. When you goe to Augusta, they ask who your family is. When you go to Savannah, they ask "what will you have to drink"? lol. Pretty true, IME.
