Georgia Bassist Club

I live at earth's end, 20 miles south of Atlanta in "EFF" County. Can't buy a gig. If economy ever recovers, we will move North of Atlanta, gigs-a-plenty. Seems as though local gigs are tip-jar variety unless you play society/corporate gigs. I joind bandmix...very disappointing, because of our locale. We even have a GC and yet no gigs.

Let's have a GTG and sort out our needs.

Please elaborate a bit on "EFF" county...... I know the south Atlanta area quite well as that's where I grew up, just never heard of anything referred to as "EFF".

Fulton? That would be my guess though... who knows... well I'm still here in the south end of GA hiding in the woods.... lol... gigs have slowed down for us (not because we can't get em, our drummer/booker is just being ******** lazy)... and could possibly have a nice gig saturday in valdosta won't know til tomorrow (1 day notice to get ppl out on Halloween wknd = #winning) but have verified a gig there for next week... and we played there last week.... the venue has 2 different people who do booking, and we've played there for 4 years and the other guy is tired of us getting off nights... so 3 weeks straight at same place may be overkill but we got this =p....

#47 MCT ... welcome home =D

Fulton, Yep You're probably right. The way He was talking that'd be South Fulton, down I-85 a bit. Just north of Tyrone, I think. Some years ago (like 15), I jammed a bit with some guys I met at Clayton State that were located in that area.

Saxn we're primarily a cover band doing everything from the 70's to current top 40's =D... with a little bit of fun thrown in and around =D...

JMAC, the only other Eff county I can think of is Effingham and thats down here in my jurisdiction... a far cry from ATL... lol

Yep. That'd be a tad bit further outside the perimeter(I-285). LOL.

Sorry I haven't been posting lately. I grew up in S/W Atlanta.
When we married, moved to PTC; got kicked out because we didn't meet requirements: Too much $$, Bad attitude and No Golf cart, so we moved East. As I didn't grow up here, I don't know why, but younger folk call our little town, "Fayette-Nam".
We have a GC and a nice Library; couldn't sustain a major big-box bookstore, so there is little culture in the 30214.

I went from High School Symphony to intro electric bass, into Blues, then Prog Rock and back to Electric Blues. I have told this story too many times in too many postings..LOL..

It amazes me that I counted 20 bars with live music on Roswell Road alone. yet there are precious few venues south of I-285 and they are mostly tip jar gigs. I don't pay my plumber in tips, why should we have to play for tips only? I have $$$$ invested in basses & equipment; tools of my trade.
yet I can't buy a gig locally. And with a gas guzzler, it isn't practical to drive all over town on weeknights; come home late and wake up early just to jam. Sorry to whine; just tellin the truth.

I would love to meet other TBers. We had a GTG a couple of years ago at Atlanta Bass Gallery...great bunch to be with. I want to organize a GTG, but alcohol at some venues requires permits, etc. Any ideas are welcomed.
Again, sorry to be a mystery with EFF County..EFF-VILLE...LOL..
Take care and enjoy our fine southern Fall weather, zon6c-f.

And the Eff county mystery is solved!
Yea, I totally know what You're talking about with the South Atlanta metro area gig scene(strip mall bar city). Hence why I keep trying to get the band guys to break out of the Henry/Clayton county thing, and come to the big city more. Atlanta offers way more gig possibilties, for what we play. Yep, a GTG would be cool.....

I have written and submitted this 3 times..3 different versions... OK..LAST TIME, TODAY...

Y'all have Motorheads in McDonough. I wish Lester of McDonough Rythm Section would join TB.

In Eff-ville, there's a tiny studio across from nothern most WH, and oddly, a "religious" HM club behind our DQ. A few other restaurants offer live music; all tip jars. Surprisingly, Collective Soul has a studio[ R2R] in Jonesboro, across the tracks in a strip mall.

I understand that one can make same $ $ playing various Lodges and VFW's as we did in the 80's.

A metro Atl TB GTG would be great..any month; our weather IMHO is generally best in the country. Last one up this way was over 2 years ago, at Atlanta Bass Gallery..great time great folks. Maybe I could get David T. Chastain to play guitar with us.
WHEW..Hope this one submits. Later..zon6c-f..
