If the date is still June 23, I'll try and make it. Would it be OK if I put out some feelers on the 'unofficial acoustic control' site ? There are a few of us from Atlanta on that site. TB'er, 'The Owl' joined the Acoustic site, and posted a link which is how I joined talkbass in the first place. TB Moderator John Turner is from Atlanta, as well. See y'all Wednesday evening.

I think that would be alright, depending on the number of extra people that decide to come.
We sure don't want to catch John off guard by pulling in 30 people instead of the proposed 11-15.
I sent JT a message, he says he might come. we'll see.

Luckie...Check my posting on the Unofficial Acoustic site, under ' Off Topic'...Rikfenzon. To my knowledge, there's only a few of us in the ATL area who are also on the Unofficial Acoustic Control Corp site. It's my first ever GTG of this sort. I plan to only bring one bass, one small amp, a few toys, as it's only scheduled for a couple of hours and I want everyone to have an equal opportunity to meet-n-greet. Like a previous poster, my drink of choice will be New Castle, too, but as hot as ATL is now, I recommend lots of ice water. We should have another in the Fall, as you well know we are in a heat wave that will probably last until October. At least we are getting some rain out of this. See y'all there...don't be late!

A few more or less won't be an issue; 25 will be, I suspect.

I hadn't even thought about the drinking age thing. Let's be cool about that--we don't want anyone getting into any trouble, ABG especially. Even if you are above legal age, be careful. In DeKalb Co., cops are thick as gnats on the bigger roads and interstates. You are just asking for issues if you have too much to drink.

Also, I want ABG to feel this was worth their while--maybe they will host a few more. Too much booze often nets broken stuff, angry people, etc.

I 'll bring a mix of beer and soft drinks.

Looking forward to it.

I took a few pictures at the event. If you'd rather not be posted on the internet, PM me and I'll take it down.

It was my first TB GTG as well as my first time into the current location of ABG. Only 9-10 were in attendance and our host, the proprietor, Jim Rubio was most gracious. We were allowed total access to a "Bass Paradise" at Atlanta Bass Gallery. The SVT fridge cabinet was really a refridgerator!!
Sometimes it seems as though when there are 2 bass players in the same room, there's one too many...LOL.. but not last night. Everyone was friendly and I enjoyed meeting each and every one of you: That German Guy, Luckie, Bob White, Russ Rogers, Jim as well as a few more. Darren Michaels walked in with his pair of Jerzy Drozd basses and offered anyone a chance to play them. As things wrapped up, Darren gave each of us a copy of his CD. I'll give it a review when I have more time. I'm sure it will be great.
I was very comfortable around everyone and in the presence of all of that bass equipment. Everyone was courteous when others were playing; not that sometimes 2-3 basses weren't playing at once, but because no one was excessively loud, there was plenty of space for all to be heard. [ I doubt that our guitar bretheren would have contained their volume in a similar circumstance.]
I brought in the only Fender Squier. The walls at ABG are litterally plastered with every type of bass imaginable; boutique and otherwise, as well as evry dream amp you can wish for...Oh and Jim has a few guitars too..LOL.. I was treated with equal respect as if I had brought my 6 string Zon custom fretless.
Let's do it again, soon. I hope that more Ga. bass players attend, as well as anyone else interested. Thanks Luckie..you put the feelers out there, a date was agreed to and it really went well. Where else can I expect such kindness, fellowship except among our peers?...I even got a new Atlanta Bass Gallery tee shirt, which I will proudly wear. Thanks again to Jim Rubio and all who attended....zon6c-f.

I'll spoil it for you...I've already listened to it three times, and it's great. I really enjoyed your Squier - it's a great bass!

MTIZZLE....I think you were the guy with the beautiful Blue Fender and the big rig?? We were all impressed as you handled your cabinet as if it was a 5 pound bag of flour..LOL.. Please take care of your back. I envy your youthful strength, as I long to enjoy my old Sunn 1-18vh folded horn cab. It weighs over 100 pounds, which is too much for me to lift these days. Anyhow, I listened to Darren's CD ..Amazing stuff.. We were lucky to have the honor to have received his CD. I returned to ABG this afternoon, with a bass buddy I have known since 1974 and I tried out some smaller combos. I was amazed at such huge sound from tiny combos. Jim Rubio and Darren of ABG were as nice today, as they were at the GTG. It was my first GTG ever and I was proud of everyone's behavior and mutal respect.

You are correct! Luckily, for load in and load outs, the band helps me move my rig...

Can't wait until the next GTG!
