German Helmets

I collect them. I collect mostly WWI German "Hun Helmets" but also have some WWII versions as well as other military head gear. I'll collect any helmet that is cool even if not military.

Here is my top shelf collection. They are EXPENSIVE and I really have not collected many since I was laid off from my Job in 2008 and had to find lower paying employment. They may all look the same but there are a few different models and years seen on the shelf. If you have this kind of stuff in your attic it's worth hundreds depending on condition and type sometimes thousands.

Pickelhauben were used during the early stage of WW I, eventually replaced by the typical Stahlhelm.

I haven't got any helmets, but I have an original iron cross my grandfather gave to me years ago, must be from 1940/41 I think.

I currently do some restoration and photography work for a military museum...they've got crates full of that kind of stuff.

I have some WW1 helms, and an assorted variety of other nationalities. I've restored quite a few. I'll post pics when I get a few mins to take some pics. sadly mine are all in storage because they give my wife the creeps.

Nice helmet shell that Austrian.

I used to have one I had someone restore. Here are two of my WWI German Rifles, a full size and the Carbine used by support troops and later Stormtroop batallions.

The other helmet was repainted before I bought it, I thought it was good but the paint is post war, It is a rare size 68 tho. And no I am not Lemmy LOL

Here is my German Grabenpanzer of Trench armor. Mostly used by Machine gunners. The armor plate on the helmet and the chin strap is a reproduction. Everything else is period.



The armor is VERY heavy and I cannot shoulder the rifle while wearing it so I don't know how anyone fought in it with a rifle.

My U.S. Kit. Everything on Ralf but his socks are period.

I say Ralf because the dog tags say Ralf Langsworthy on them. He was with an infantry devision that had deployed to France but was in reserve when the war ended. He never saw the front lines. Millions of Americans never did.

I've gotten rid of my US WW1 stuff but still have a complete Austro-Hungarian set from WW1.
At the moment I also have stacks of war-dated Brit Battle Dress that I'm trying to figure out what to do with. I'll try my best to get some pics up here. Sadly all of mine is packed away as mentioned earlier. Finding it is half the battle.

What a nice looking Lee Enfield what year is it? And that Austrian M-95! I have a Hungarian version but am looking for one (Austrian) in better condition. If you ever want to sell it look me up.

This thread is pretty cool. Are your two german rifles Kar98k or Gewehr 88,98 ?

Yes one is Kar98 and the other is a 1898 Mauser or Gew98. Both still fire fine and are very accurate. I have a WWII Mauser k98 but I don't enjoy it's kick. The longer WWI version is a gentle bump compared to the WWII version.

Someone asked if I was Lemmy. Lemmy is an advanced collector I would not rate over bottom of the intermediate range.
