Lotta dressed-up white folk looking kinda confused.;)

Looks like maybe the mid 60’s. Everyone was dressed up, even the band.

It didn’t go like this. [Background: In 1957, Buddy Holly was the first ever white group to play the Apollo theatre in Harlem. The guy that booked them thought that they were a black act. The audience apparently almost booed him off the stage during the first number.]

I have a John Lee Hooker story. I went to an afternoon show in an old theater in the early 70’s. We had center stage seats near the front. The place was almost empty. The band played some warmup songs then out comes the chair and John Lee. He played a long show for a small but enthusiastic group of fans. One of those days that you never forget.

.attended John Lee Hooker's funeral here in Oakland, CA... sad day...
