Get off my LAWN! "Grumpy Old Farts"

Met the new home owner today. Notice I didn't say neighbor.

He was unloading stuff from his car. I walked over and said "Welcome to the neighborhood." He just stood there. I waited a couple of beats then said, "I'm Gordon. I live next door." Waited a few more beats - nothing. Then he said "We're setting this up for an AirBnB. It should be ready in two weeks." Nothing else. I said "Well, hope it works out for you. I'll let you get back to your moving." Weird. For 390K + maint and taxes, he better hope it works out.

I wasn't too thrilled about hearing that but as long as he takes care of the place and we don't get any whack jobs it should be okay.

You never know who is going to rent the place. I see people come in and it’s party central and a nightmare for the neighbors. Since they don’t have a stake in the place, they can be inconsiderate of others. Other times it’s someone posted in the city for a year, like an academic on sabbatical or a business person on assignment. I had a banker across the street. They are usually way better.

Hope that it works out for you.

And if it doesn't, aim yer amp(s) at the place and have at it.:smug:

Chief Broom is thinking about that.

Us too! Thanks.

Speaking of real estate, our garden spider decided to move the other day. She's under the carport now. I guess the rise in real estate prices made the move attractive. :laugh: Yesterday the down line from her web to the ground broke (about 8 ft) and her "house" was a mess. She rebuilt it last night with a new down line. Amazing!

except it isn't a garden spider, friend. It is an invasive species from the Far East.
Like it or not, Joro spiders are here to stay

All the AirBnBs I've used have been "serviceable". And my preference is to avoid AirBnB the same way I avoid Uber and Lyft.

The gig economy
:: smh ::

Our Honda dealer appears to have stopped their service shuttle service. They usually had a Honda minivan and an employee for the shuttle. The last time the driver had a Nissan with a broken windshield. What the...? Figured out it was Uber. Uber again when they picked me up to get the car. The first driver kept looking down at his lap for the GPS on his phone. Yikes. I spent the ride watching the road. Eh....not liking this. I was a little uncomfortable riding with strangers although both drivers seemed like nice guys. I'll say something to the dealer the next time if they still use Uber. If they do, then Mrs GT can follow me up there and take me back.
