Altogether best I don't go up at those altiudes unless in an airplane. It takes me a while to get acclimatized at 5k meters. Some people, apparently, have bodies able to manage (briefly) at 8k meters and, at nearly 64 years, not eager to test mine...

Left and right oblique nibs for the formation of many serif styles are of limited availability. Once big outfits like Esterbrook offered easily swapped specialty nibs for every use. Steno nibs, nibs for duplicates (press firmly), music nibs .... There are left and right handed music nibs!

The music nib is more or less a standard oblique nib with an extra slit for greater ink flow. It's paired with a more generous feed. Drawing a musical note requires both broad and thin strokes from one nib. And musical scribes, composers and conductors would never be the sort to curse if their pen sputters ....

Talk about banks and other bureaucracies that require blue and black ... there'll be some serious squawking if sheet music is ever presented in anything but black ....

Buffalo are big scary critters. Some farms that I pass raise them for meat, leather, and fur. Buffalo leather being thicker than cow is good for tooled heavy duty instrument straps. They’re things of beauty.

The farm animals look smaller than what I remember seeing on the prairies many years ago. Smaller animals (1000lbs) apparently don’t destroy the plants in the pastures like heavy (1500lbs and up) ones do.

We bought four hats this year made out of Yak wool in Nepal. These are the warmest hats we’ve ever had. Perfect for the cold this year. Yaks are another tough beast. Like lamas, they comb them to harvest the wool.

The Magnificent Carnac:

May the fleas of a thousand diseased yaks infest your armpits.
