French or German are your only viable options. Polish bowing...what did you expect? View attachment 3762807

Maybe I need to add an "l" to bowing and make it bowling. Now we are talking!

NOT the solo instrument you want to hear from another room! :woot:

And there I always thought those old sci-fi movie soundtracks used the space age theremin. (sigh) Another childhood fantasy blown apart. :(
.

Perhaps cat ladies have a vast collection of musical saw albums. Cats and musical saws seem to share a similar means of expression.

So I just tried to see if I could play this at home. I ended up sawing my bow in half in the first 30 seconds of the song.

I wonder if I was holding the saw the wrong way?

I blame it on being left handed...

Maybe you need to put the rosin on the saw instead of the bow.

I recall seeing a demo, the player said that it could be done with any saw but the artists have saws that re narrow at the end so they bend them to put tension on the metal.

Art Tatum was another product of Toledo, Ohio.
He died in 1956, a lifetime away.
Yet his legacy lives on.

Most of us will not have a memorable legacy.
When those that think of us are gone, so will we.
Grave stones are a reminder of what was.
Strangers will read a name, then move on.

It's only been two weeks of isolation.
Now they've added another month to that.
Some are saying, it could extend to the end of the year.
Every year the world has to contend with another strain from China.

They say that corona will result in suicides.
Lives torn apart, not worth living.
Devestation all around at many levels.
Many who live through it will never fully recover.

This is the Blues, for today.
Have faith my friends, it will be defeated.
Rise up, rise up.

Every now and again, I get it in my head to build a pedal. Today it was supposed to be a preamp.

Below is a copy of the pre-amp from an old Gibson/Moog LabSeries L5 amplifier from the 70's that I bought. It meshes with today being Blues Monday as B.B. King used the L5 amp for many years to play the blues. He then gave it to Eric Clapton for auction at his Crossroads charity.

I need to stuff this with parts, then be a solderin' fool. All the time while working on it, you hope that it turns out alright and actually works.

When done, it'll be installed in this box. Lots-o-knobs to turn.

But life always gets in the way of what you really want to do. Today I noticed that a tile above the tub was loose, the grout has cracks and water must have got back there. So I need to get some repair supplies from the hardware. It might call for some PLPlus that people use in speaker cabinet construction. Not sure if they are open, yesterday when I passed by two were closed. The problem is, it's never just one tile that needs attention. Remove one and find that the next one also has to come off. It's a chain reaction. Till I can fix it, I sealed the grout lines with silicone goop to stabilize it and keep it dry.

Art also hired Wynton Marsallis, which is how HE came into the spotlight.
