I would install a wire jumper between the pot cases, rather than relying on the aluminum foil for signal ground.

So solder a wire between both pots? Any particular type of wire needed? Thanks for your help.

Whatever you have on hand; #18 AWG stranded copper would be fine.

I used an ohm meter to check the wire connection from the bridge to the jack. It was not zero. It was fluctuating all over the place. I assume that means I have broken wire from the bridge to the jack and that fixing that wire is the first thing to do to fix the buzzing.
