Getting a 1/4" shaft dia knob on a 6mm solid shaft

Change my pickups and pots on my MIJ Fender and my old Fender knobs (push on) are to big for the new pots. Any idea's on what I could do to shim it with something to make a snug fit? I just would like to keep these knobs rather then buy new ones.
Any idea's ?

They make five different lengths from 9mm (.354") to 22mm (.865"). Just find the length you need. You can filter the list for the correct bore and OD from the pull down menus near the top of the list.

Stock Drive is a little expensive. You may be able to find the same thing cheaper elsewhere but SDP has EVERYTHING when it comes to stuff like this. Between these guys and McMaster-Carr you can pretty much buy every bushing, bearing, drive part, and fastener made by man. It's a good site to bookmark for the future.

I use that teflon plumber's tape for things like that. Just wrap enough it around the pot shaft until it holds the knob.

Just like the stock one's that came with it. They have the "F" logo on the top. So, just me being picky

I cut two strips of masking tape as wide as the pot shaft and long enough to go over the top and down both sides. Put them on the shaft in a cross pattern and press on the knob. Add or remove tape as necessary for it to have a firm fit.

You can also use 1mm copper sheeting, cut into small strips to correct size. The copper shielding used for electronic cavities is not thick enough for this purpose.

yup ... I have done the same as mech and dev with both masking tape and black plastic electrical tape ... teflon tape would probably work too, but the key is to use somthing that does not want to just mash down from the pressure ... the correct thickness of wraps is kind of the key ..

The back side of the tape sticking to the pot shaft is the key for me. I also found that by putting strips of tape over the top of the shaft it doesn't want to bunch up when the knob is pressed on like it does if it's wrapped.
