Getting a New bass, need help deciding (I'm New Here)

Ric, and if i happen to not like it (which im pretty sure i will) ill resell it, and get a P bass.

I don't think you could go wrong with a P-bass or a Ric for Indie.

Again, I've owned 7 Alembics, 3 Rics, 4 Gibsons including an EB1, every Fender made and a custom shop version of each Fender, Pedulla, Warwicks, Surines, FBass, Sadowsky NYC, Sukop, etc. Every high end you could imagine. Cliff Burton played a Ric. I don't think they're hard to play. I think they're cumbersome when it comes to dialing in a particular sound on the fly! Laklands dial in in 3 seconds. Every sound you could want.......you can do it w/a couple of twists of less than 4 knobs. I love my Surine. I love my FBass. I love my custom shop and masterbuilt Fenders. If I had to pick one bass in your price range, I'd shop hard for a Lakland USA!

can and will a Lakland give me a good punchy aggressive tone for an indie/punk type band?

Every player is different,....we like to hear different things from an instrument,as well as,feel different things under our hands.A Rickenbacker to me,sounds great,but,under MY hands,....feels really tight!I've seen some great choices,come across this thread,and my suggestion to you,would be to try several brands,and see what connects with you.Take your time,...It'll "find"YOU! Peace!
