Getting a Ric...Treble Bezel?

I got a response from Frank at tube ampology:

"Hi,
The current 4003 bezels will fit into 4001 Chrome surrounds. That is why to 4001 series has been discontinued.
I do still make the 4001V63C64 bezels, but they are machined in very limited quantities.
Thanks
Frank"

So I guess I can order the 4003 for my 4001 :)

I have one on my 77 Ric along with a Zero-Mod thumb-rest. Makes playing a Ric a bit less awkward.

Hey, I am getting a JetGlo Rickenbacker 4001 soon. It was made in the summer of 1976. (2112's release year for you RUSH fans) It is a used bass, but looks good.

I was wondering if any of you guys have ever used a treble bezel with a Ric and what you thought of it.

Treble Bezel:
Treble Bezel for Rickenbacker 4003/4001

I got one for my 4003 soon after I got it because I was finding that I was cutting up my fingers on metal/plastic ring around the pickup. That was my natural resting spot and it works much better with the treble bezel.

No issues installing it etc. pretty easy. Even for me.

So had one of these installed by a local tech and I was wondering if it should be springy? It looks like he used the springs and screws from the old pickup cover, which is fine, but the springiness is a little off putting.

Yes they do the Standard Black Bezels but there is no black Cove bezel which has an indentation for a thumb rest. Maybe they never produced a Cove in black.

They certainly did used to be produced, but it appears that they no longer are. Along with any of the 4001 models. Apparently they have streamlined/adjusted their product list!

I have a black 4001 (standard) model on my bass, but gotta admit that chrome design looks rather tasty. Too bad it's only 4003-shaped :(

I'm thinking of getting one but it's a hell of a price to pay for a piece of plastic! you would have thought since these are 2g + basses, Rickenbacker might have included one in the case fort those who like the cover off! after all they only want 19 dollars for there's over there!
Good idea and covers the hole, acts as a dust protector too and protects the PU coils (and keeps tiny fingers out!)

yeah, i've bought around 8 of those over last few years, pricey but awesome. Honestly the ric boutique site is the cheapest option out there that i've found. There is a known seller that probably originated the idea before ric started copying and selling them. Those are about twice the ric site prices.:wacky:

The stock plastic cover serves no functional purpose, and blocks access to one of the best sweet spots. Removing it leaves a sharp edged hole that looks lousy. The chrome treble bezel looks great and functions as expected, particularly with the version with built in thumbrest. Get the Tubeampology version, not the blatant IP ripoff by Rickenbacker inc.
