Getting back at it

Hey all, I used to mess around with the bass when I was 17/18, never really got into it. My first one was a black/white Mark II 4 String, and I wish I would have held on to it. I've gotten back into playing here recently, and I now own an Ibanez 4 string and an Epiphone 4 string, and it's crazy at how different they sound from one another. My Ibanez has seen better days, as it was kept in a closet for about 10 years. Neck's bent, rod is stripped, but I still manage to play it. She'll be my project, just need to find a nice new neck, thinking 5 string, and new electronics. Any tips would be appreciated!
