Getting reacquainted with the bass

Hello everybody! New member here, originally from Argentina, currently living in the US.

Used to play bass back in the day, put it aside due to work & family commitments. Then, 4-5 years ago the deity appeared to me in a lucid dream and commanded me to buy a 5-stringer and take up the bass again.

I did buy the thing (USA Fender Jazz something-or-other from the 90's), but never got around to play it very much. Time to change that sad state of affairs! I will be asking some questions so I can get the bass playing again, and my plan is to start taking classes... soon-ish.

One on one lessons will save you a bunch of time. There are some goods posts on learning your fretboard, which you can do now before you get with an instructor in this string. How to get started? For example post # 4, 6 and 16.
