Just to be clear, besides replacing the cord with a three wire properly grounded to the chassis your amp tech also needs to remove the "death cap" that goes between the polarity switch and the chassis. No need to remove the switch. If your amp tech doesn't know what a "death cap" is find a REAL amp tech! Oh, and congrats on living through this .

Best practice would be to disconnect the switch from the AC altogether. In that case the cap doesn't need to be removed either.

I'd still remove the death cap just because - unless you're in a death metal band . Seriously, some idiot might reconnect it some day...

Oooo - good point about making sure the fuse ends up in the "hot" side before the switch! Nothing more "fun" than your old power transformer shorting out to ground - and then catching fire because it wasn't fused properly .
