Ghost notes and chords through a Måneskin Bass Cover

As a bass learner, my goal is to improve by focusing on certain techniques of bass playing. In this video, I cover the famous song "Beggin" (Måneskin version). I focus on my use of ghost notes and chords. Tell me what you think and if you have any specific tips that could help me improve, I would be thrilled to read your constructive thoughts! Oh...and I also added back vocals!

As we all know by now, Maneskin bass parts should be un-covered.

Honestly, I think you're doing really great; the only thing that really stood out was a lack of confidence in the attack of the notes between the chord changes, on the 1's.

I think part of that was perhaps your mind being more focused on the vocal, and keeping the chord changes in track - so the effect is that the note volume is a bit inconsistent, and the bass isn't quite propelling everything along quite as it should.

This will come with practice, and you're well on the way to nailing it - it's just about building confidence, and refining it through practice, until it becomes subconscious.

Sting has talked about this in several interviews, how he has to spend time breaking both the vocal, and the bass part down into syllable-like chunks, and practice repeatedly, building it up until it's automatic.

I think you are doing pretty well. That’s got to be a challenging song with all the starts and stops and changes in it. I would say just keep practicing it. You’re just a touch behind in spots. Someone here mentioned having more confidence in your attack. I also see that. As you keep playing the song that should improve.
