GHS Balanced Nickels are too stiff!

Except they are.
A look at the tension guide says they have the same unit weights. They're apparently the same strings, only wound to different lengths.

By that logic, my wife and I are apparently the same person, because we weigh the same.



I'll check my charts; I'm guessing the issue lies in the tension guide. As in, a typo.

If I knew your exact weight, down to eight decimals (creepy... '), and found the same exact figure on a scales receipt with your surname, I'd assume it was you, not your brother.
[And, should it turn out it was really your brother, you have to admit the odds of youze having the same weight would be astonishingly high.]

Of course, if that's what happened, it's not "a" typo: four whole lines of figures (either for the 4M-NB or the 4700 set) need to be corrected, because they're calculated from the same four unit weights of the other set.

It IS a typo if the numbers were just copied/pasted during the layout process of the charts, and then not revisited. Which, given that I know who laid it out (spoiler: it's me), I'm guessing that's how it happened.

And given how long it's taken to point this out also shows how crucial a detail it really is.

Squier Mini 28.6" scale, with Badass bridge strung-through, the length of the short scale Balanced Nickels is near enough to perfect! There's 22mm / 0.9" from the nut to the silk on the E string.

But... this means they are too short for my 30" with the same string-through setup

Bittersweet news. I left GHS roughly four weeks ago for a new opportunity in a different field.

At this point, I have no idea if anyone has taken my role, or if they’re planning on addressing this.

Nope, different field. I’m heading up the marketing dept for a spectator seating co.

Honestly, I enjoy the distance between the work life and my music life. Ten years of doing both burned me out a bit, to where I wasn’t doing as much music things that I was enjoying.

I’m going to start writing for Bass Musician Mag again, which I’m excited about.
