I got a set of long scale Boomers (M3045) today and they were too short for my string through Fender Jazz. The string starts to taper right at the nut and the nylon wrap is sitting about half an inch over the fretboard. I've never had that problem with them before and I've been using them for a few years now. I'm going to return them tomorrow. Has any one else had any similar issues with Boomers?

GHS Boomers defect??

When I tried them on a MIM jazz I had, I remember the silks JUST cleared the nut, and it was string thru bridge only.

I went back to Sam Ash today and they let me exchange them. The manager opened up two different packs of Boomers and they were both short. They didn't have any of the XL scale so I exchanged them for a different set of strings. Sucks though... I've been using them for years and now I have to try to find the extra long ones. Lame-o.

I sent an e-mail over to GHS and they said that the length of their strings has not changed, and that I need to use extra long scale strings. I just don't understand why it's all of the sudden that their bass strings are coming up short on my Fender. Either A.) I've been buying extra long scale strings for the past few years and had no idea -- doubtful, or B.) They're not being honest with me. Both of those scenarios seem equally far fetched to me. I compared the new GHS strings to some 34" Dean Markley's that I had, and the Deans where about an inch and a half longer than the Boomers. I compared my old Boomers to the Markley's and they are about the same length. I'm more confused than ever. Why would GHS make a shorter string than everybody else? ... And why am I just now having a problem with it? What gives?
