But what's up with wanting someone to lose?
Try being a Leafs fan. EVERYONE seems to want them to lose

But what's up with wanting someone to lose?
I'm a Dolphins fan--I was 9 during the 17-0 season and went to all the home games with my father. I've met some of those guys, and I don't want to see their record eclipsed. Simple as that. What's with all the hate? I mean, I can understand wanting your team to win. But what's up with wanting someone to lose?
Poor sportsmanship among fans....
I acknowledge the greatness of this Patriots team, but Belichick's poor sportsmanship, Spycam, the presence of Randy Moss and the whininess of golden boy Tom Brady make it easier to root for them to lose.
Brady has whined plenty about a so-called "lack of respect" in the past when people don't fawn all over the Pats. I'm sure it's just a motivational tactic, but it's still whiny. You're making some stuff up there - when's Tom been whining? What's Randy do on that team other than perform? (and throw great blocks when it's not his turn to catch?)
It just sounds like sour grapes in the end....

As for Moss, it's easy to be happy when your team's winning every game and you're racking up big individual numbers. As he's shown multiple times in his career, when times get tough (and character's tested), he throws people under the bus or quits.
And the Spycam thing stinks. Do I think the Pats would have beaten the Jets without it? Of course. Doesn't matter, they cheated.

You're probably still upset about the snowblower incident.![]()
Moss finally found a system that he can believe in.
......he's obviously not the 'cancer in the locker room' that everyone thought he'd be. Chalk that up to great coaching.
Sure, the Pats didn't get respect in the past--look how many decades it took them to win a Super Bowl, so naturally there was skepticism. (And kudos to you for sticking with them.) But Brady's whined at the same time the team was being lauded (and his talent is a big reason why they've been praised, I admit) and every other commercial featured him and his linemen. It makes him look silly (as does the Miami Vice constant-stubble thing, but that's another matterBeing a Pats fan from way back, the Pats have often suffered from a lack of respect. But if noting that there's a lack of respect makes a team whiny, most of the league is guilty of that at least a few times per season.
As Mike pretty much said in his response, one season (which isn't even over) doesn't suddenly wipe Moss' slate clean. As I say with TO, let's wait and see.Moss finally found a system that he can believe in. When you're the talent he is, and have the potential that he does, and nobody tries to get you in the game, it's frustrating. That's what happened to him in past years. Now, I don't advocate what he did, but he's obviously not the 'cancer in the locker room' that everyone thought he'd be. Chalk that up to great coaching.
If most teams do it, why don't most teams get caught? And did they pay enough of a price, or did the NFL go easy on them because the Pats are the current dynasty? I'm biased (so are you, of course), but I thought there was a case for making them forfeit the game. What they did after that game is immaterial in the case. The defense I've consistently heard from Pats fans (not just you) reminds me a little of Nixon's defenders--he didn't need to cheat, either. (And in both cases, the tapes were destroyed. As do most teams. Yep, that Pats got caught. They also paid the price. Time to move on - none of that had any effect on the great playing they've done this season.
)HI, you're going to have to help me out on the difference between cheating and violating the rules. They didn't cheat. They violated the rules about camera placement and were penalized.
Nah, I forgot about that till you brought it up. I was kind of upset at the time, though, and if the shoe were on the other foot, I'll bet you would have been, too. You're probably still upset about the snowblower incident.![]()

The league had plenty of incentive, though, not to take this thing further with the Pats because of who they are. We'll have to agree to disagree on this one, too. We'll have to just agree to disagree on the other stuff, but I wanted to respond to this.
The NFL and the Commissioner looked at the tapes, and saw they didn't influence the outcome of the game. If they had, I'd be right there with you calling for the forfeit. There was a case for it, but since it didn't have an effect, there was no forfeit. Seems reasonable to me.
Gladly!
Wearing the wrong color socks (rules violation, player gets fined) does not equal cheating.
Having camera video tape opponent coaching staff (rules violation, team and coach gets fined) does not equal cheating.
Videotaping opponent coaching staff AND relaying their calls to your coaching staff (rules violation and cheating). This infraction is considered cheating because the information is being used to gain an unfair advantage during the course of the game. The second half of this example (relaying signals) DID NOT occur therefore, NO CHEATING took place.
See the difference?![]()
That's an interesting assertion, that the signals weren't relayed to the coaching staff. Was that ever proven? Because I find it VERY hard to believe they stole other teams' signals, but did nothing with them.![]()
....alternating scores in the first half is no way to win a game!
