Gibson 3point bridge replacement?

I can't get get my Epiphone Les Paul bass(older one) set up the way I like with the three point bridge. Not being able to adjust the individual strings is a hindrance. Are there any replacements? I did a search but found lots of disdain for Gibson basses and not much help. If it helps, I wouldn't mind a mod with a BAII if it would work. Anyone try it? Gibson/Epi people, I need advice!:help:

Well, I have a BAII on hand and a Gotoh. If the BAII will work as well what would be the best way to remove the bridge anchors from the body? I love the LP in bass form(guess many don't) but not a fan of the three point. I got it for cheap and just want to get her to feel right. Surgery is fine but I don't want to hack it too bad.

Yes, and my local shop carries Gibson replacement parts. I don't think they have the Gibson bridge and tail piece(kind of Warwick like) used on the Gibson Les Paul though.Guess I could order the same bridge and tail piece that are used on the Gibsons and go that route but that would be some advanced surgery beyond what I feel capable of. I like the idea of a BA on it. Simple and effective but still wondering if it is feasible.

I replaced the 3-point bridge on my USA Schecter Tempest; never regretted it - those bridges suck. I had to make a custom plate to go under the bridge to raise it to the proper height - I also made it wide enough to cover the old holes (filled them with dowels first - do this as the replacement bridge screws will most likely be over one of the holes, and its better for sustain).

It all turned out very well. I originally started out with a BAII but I had issues with string spacing on my particlular bass, and ended up with a cool Schaller bridge that has infinitely adjustable spacing. Regarding pulling the anchors, I bought a tool from Stewmac that is designed to do this as well as the push-on volume knobs, and it has been worth every penny. PM me if you are interested and I can send you a pic of the bridge.

Cheers

Fantastic info. I thought I would have to use something to level the surface underneath the bridge. I would very much appreciate any ideas and info you could provide. It's an Epiphone but I like it and it is nice for the price. I am growing a fondness for Gibson style basses. I will PM you now and thanks to everyone for their help.
