In the center of this picture is my Gibson Les Paul bass. Got it recently but don't know much about it other than I love the sound and look of it. Can anyone explain what the controls do? What the pickups are? What the preamp might be, if there is one? The year on it is 1990. Any help would be great!

Gibson Les Paul Bass Help

There were several versions of the Les Paul bass that came out in the 90's . Many had Bartolini pickups and pre-amp . The knobs should be two volume , two tone .
I believe this looks exactly like a bass I used to have. I had contacted Gibson and they said it was a Gibson LPB-1.
Four knobs on that style bass would mean it was originally active unless someone modded it to passive. Those are tb+ passive pickups either way, same that have been on thunderbirds for years recently. Check if there’s a 9volt under the hood. It may need changing if you haven’t already.
