Gibson Les Paul HB Bass

I have an opportunity to pick up hollow body Les Paul bass sunburst for $300. Neck is supposed to be straight and pictures show the bass in exc. Condition. Only downfall is tuners have been replaced. What are your thoughts? Buy or Pass? What we're the original Tuners? Hipshot?

Michael.

Here is the picture. Again, clover keys are hideous replacements. What year do you guys think?

Modelled after the 1915-16 Gibson Memphis ES-Les Paul Bass:
Gibson Memphis ES-Les Paul Bass
ES-Les Paul Bass

as seen e.g. here on TB:
New Gibson ES-Les Paul Gold Top
NBD Gibson Memphis ES Les Paul Bass

The one you're considering differs from the original in a number of details (truss rod access cover lacking the f; position of the pickup selector relative to the upper bout; rougher-cut f-holes; position of knobs relative to the lower of said holes), the most egregious of which appears to be scale length: I believe "yours" is long-scale, vs. the 30.2" Gibson.

If you like the looks, for 300 bucks give it a thought - I would.
(Think about it, not outright get it, that is: the decal would bother me a little for one thing. Any chance it could be rearranged into "un-Gibs"? ;))

Something isn't right with that price. Pics?

[edit] obviously late to the party.:)

Very doubtful it’s a real Gibson. Especially at that price, which would make me suspect it’s stolen if it actually were a real Gibson. Looks to be a Chinese knockoff.

However, if you like the way it sounds and plays it might be worth considering.
