gibson limited run explorer at guitar center

Just talked to the manager @ the GC I deal with, he said none of the Co. stores have them, he will order me one. Cool.:) Oh and he also said that he only see's 93 of them out in the GC chain. Don't know if they will get more or not. Just thought I'd let you all know.

while checking out artists in Fort Collins a few days ago, I left my hotel and wandered into the local GC. That's where I saw (and tried out) the explorer. I personally didn't care a great deal for it, but it wasn't bad....

I called them last night...no go. The guy I talked to said they didn't have any.
I did go check out the Epi tonight and even though I love my T-birds I have to say, WOW! Thought it would sound a lot like them but no, whole different animal. I really liked it!:hyper:Can't wait to try the Gibson once it gets in, just gotta get past the look of it. Don't like the flat finish on it.

Oh, OK. They must have sold it. It was last week. I have to admit that I was intrigued when I spotted it. First time (literally) that I had seen ANY Gibson bass in a GC, let alone an Explorer. I thought the price was VERY competitive, but just not the bass I might be interested in.

Cheers!

when are they going to restyle their bridge? It is a shame to spend $900 for a bass and then have to spend another $120 on a hipshot.

Nothing wrong with a Gibson 3-Point. I think people freak when they see something other than a standard Fender or Bad Ass style bridge. If you know what you're doing, they actually allow for a wide range of adjustments that are just not possible on a standard style bridge.

Lol, I just got back from GC checking out the one they ordered in for me. Beat up! It played nice but no way was I gonna pay that much for a beat up bass. I don't understand how they try to sell stuff like this as new, heck the Epi explorer they have as new old stock, 2010 model, it doesn't have any of the clear protective stuff on the pick guard or any where else. It is scratched up the strings are old and look it. It looks used! Honestly The Epi Explorer played just as nice, lacking alittle in the tone compared to the Gibson but ya, if it looked new I would of brought it home with me, but I wont pay new price's for a used bass. Wasn't laughing at you Hypersoulrocks, laughing with you.

I tried one yestrrday.
It was not well finished and the pups were very loose, particularly the treble pup which was nearly falling out with near a qtr inch of wobble.
The body had sections of poor finish in the wood surface. It sounded good but I left it there, dissapointed.
