Gibson T-bird, Jazz, or Precision?

Also, he uses modern T Birds (90s and actually 00s iirc).


I vote T Bird all the way. So much more power and growl than a Jazz. I like the tone of Birds like none other. Plus, I like the neck a lot more. They aren't VERY "versatile", but that's why a Ford Taurus is different than a Ferrari F40.

I played and owned all of the three basses.

The t-bird is one kind of a beast, but the headstock dive neck is a major turnoff for me.

The P-Bass has a Tone I am not a big fan for it.

The J-Bass is an all-around versatile bass that has lots of bottom end and highs as well.

My vote goes to the J-Bass.

I would buy a new Thunderbird and play it until it was vintage. Also, neck dive is not an issue with the Gibson, only the Epiphone as they are two completely different basses.

And I suppose that goes hand in hand with the rule that if you play a Jazz Bass, you must have gone to Jesus Camp and play music about some fairytale in the heavens and all that nonsense?

It isn't a rule, it just can't be helped. You can't really sit with a Thunderbird either. Not that it isn't physically possible, it just isn't natural.
