Gibson Thunderbird Discontinued???

I want a redesigned Thunderbird
- modern bridge
- bridge pulled back further to the edge of the body (ala Jazz Bass), pulling the neck further into the body, which is slightly narrower.
- rear strap moved higher up and not in the centre, with the other strap pin at the neck joint.
- EMG pickups
You just described the Spector Rex5 Pro and its 4 string little brother. Great basses, discontinued now but can still be found on Reverb occasionally.

Here it is next to a Gibson Thunderbird…

Note: the 5 string Rex is a 35" scale vs the 34" Gibson.

IDK
I just can't see the word "ugly" being used in the same sentence as "Thunderbird"
Just a matter of perspective I guess...
The traditional TB is gorgeous, but yeah, the flipped design does nothing for me

but the lower horn doesn't look right 😔

Thank you for that. Being the owner of two T-Birds currently and knowing a bit about them I have to say that I like the upgrades they've done with the bridge and pickups generally. That headstock however... Non reverse headstock on the reverse body just looks wrong and odd to me. I'd mod one of mine with that bridge perhaps and maybe the pickups before I'd spend $2500 on one of those though. The headstock just ruins the classic look for me. Uggh!
