Gig bag for Fender Mustang?

Hi all,

I have a ‘75 Mustang bass and haven’t had good luck with cases. Any suggestions? Looking ideally for a decently padded gig bag, nothing too expensive - just seems hard to find the right one online. Thanks in advance

I use a Gator ProGo bag for guitar. It's a tight fit and I had to take out the foam block.

Right, I actually have the same bag and use it for my full scale electrics - just looking for something that fits the mustang better and thus easier to carry around. But thanks!

I use a Gator ProGo bag for guitar. It's a tight fit and I had to take out the foam block.

So when you take out the foam block is it still a real tight squeeze? I don’t mind that so much is the zipper from the case wearing out eventually because of extra stress on it.

hmmm... I looked but some of the reviews on Amazon say it doesn’t fit a mustang bass. I wonder if the classic mustang and the PJ mustang are slightly different dimensions.

I bought a Gator HS case that fits my Mustang. I can’t tell you the model number but it fits. It’s not a long scale case. It’s made for ss bass. I looked at the Fender HS case for Mustang with logo but they list for $300. The Gator was $79.99.

Gator pro go for electric with the removable padding off.
Not too tight imo,very well protected and plenty of room in the compartments.

I wouldn't call it a tight squeeze, but I would call it very snug. The bass doesn't just fall into the bag. I have to pull the top part of the bag over the headstock, but I dont think its stretching out the bag. It's just like I'm tucking in my bass, I guess. Like I said, very snug.

When I had my Danny Longhorn, I used a Charvel guitar gig bag I found online... worked great!

I also use the Gator Pro baritone guitar case for my JMJ Mustang. Had to take out foam block as well, works great.

for those wondering i looked up some Gator pics. looks like there is a big block of foam at the bottom that is removeable. sounds like the guitar one you use the case but remove that block to make it fit. looks a good couple inches thick.

anyone able to compare one of these cases to a Mono? price is a big difference.

you rock brotha! yeah the gator electric guitar case looks the best, plus you can put it in an overhead on a flight. now i just need to see if they will fit in an Mono Stealth or Vertigo bag and then compare.

I believe it does fit in the Mono, but don’t quote me on it!
