Gig bag for Yamaha BB415

I've been using a Musician's Friend gig bag for the BB-415. Because the tuners stick out so far, they hit the side of the interior, and the bass is always way out of tune when first removed. Has anyone had better luck with another gig bag, either one sold by Yamaha or another vendor?

Thanks,

John

Gator bags are nice and pretty cheap, but a little short for Fender-style instruments. The Roadrunner is a good bag if you get the better one (you don't need the extra back-pack on the cruizer, though I use mine as an excellent separate gigbag. Not sure about fit, but the Tribute bag was well made as well. Maybe the Fender deluxe on MF for $49? I have the much-maligh=ned double version of this and like it, as I don't travel far and only use it in my car.

You're never going to take your bass or guitar out of a bag or case and it's still in perfect tune. I suggest you get a hard case for your bass. Gig bags are crap (compared to a hard case), no matter which one you get. We play expensive and fragile instruments, you want to have the best protection for them.

Actually, I have two other basses in gigbags--a Fender Preicsion Special and a MM Sterling 4---and both stay in good tune. I agree with you that the best protection is a hardshell case, but for local gigs and fewer in/out trips, the gigbags are a risk I'm willing to take. The Yammy has oversized tuning keys, which I think cause the tuning problem.

I get what you are saying. What I meant about tune was this, after I play any of my three basses...I always clean or wipe them down (cleaning the tuning keys always gets them out of tune). Have you looked into one of those hybrid bags?
Expensive but a good compromise between hard and soft.
I can help you look for something but I need the specs of your bass (body length and width, scale length and headstock/tuning key sizes). A pic of your bass would also be helpful (ie. standard shape, etc.). Two of my three are of odd shapes, therefor I NEED hard cases for them, you get what I mean. I'm sure we could find something for your needs.
