Gigable

My guitarist had a 100 watt marshall half stack and it would bury my Bassman 200 easily[read as with volume at less than half]. So-i made the only logical move. I bought a 1X15 cab that handles 600 watts [avatar b115h] and bought a rack setup [sansamp rbi, carvin dcm2000]. I no longer worry about having enough power or clean power. I'm currently bridging the carvin into the avatar. Plenty of head room and as important-plenty of power.

My move would be; if you have the money, get more power. If not you can just ask them to turn down a bit.

Before we even contemplate an extension speaker, there's something we have to check. Does the Fender rumble have a plug on the back that says something like "ext. speaker".

I'm having trouble finding specs. But from what I can tell it's 100w at 4 ohms connected to a 15" speaker that is also 4 ohms. My guess is the amp isn't designed to handle an extension speaker. I could be wrong though.

I've got a short question, if I have a jack that just says "Line", could that be used for an extension speaker? The wiring diagram I found between the head and cab (it's a used 100B yorkville combo) says it's a Line Out, but that's all I can gather.

Which Yorkville in particular? The BM400 mentioned my Wolfenstien?

No that "Line out" isn't meant for an Ext. speaker. Use it to connect your amp to the PA system, or to a second amp. The signal leaves the line out without being amplified, so it's about the same voltage as what comes directly out of your bass (1 or 2 volts). The Line out is usually a balanced output which just means the signal stays strong even over long distances - that's why it's great for connecting to a PA where the mixing desk is often quite a distance away.

For an an Ext speaker, you need an output which is spits the sound out after it has been amplified. Ovbiously the voltage is much higher, high enough to power a speaker cab.

I wasa looking at MusicianForums.com and they were sayin a 1x15 speaker would be louder than a 2 speakers of a smaller size like 2 10's. Is this true?
Some would say yes and some would say no. It all comes down to individual preferences.

I like to use both. 15's don't punch through the other instruments as well as 10's. But 10's have to work harder than 15's to produce bottom end. There's no such problems when I use both. I get a full-range sound that's loud, clean, and punches through.

These days you'll find that many if not most 10s produce just asl much if not more lows than 15s.

I think the bigger difference is that in most casses you will find that 2-10s will be able to handle more power than 1-15.

I have found that 2-10s work better for me because they cut through the mis better and can be pushed harder.

In terms of actual volume, 15's push more air, but its just not as useful IMO.

Peace
