I'm interested in the result of trying it with the 2x12.

If I'm successful or not, I'll post here. Will have to wait until I have the loud group in a big enough room to really test in context.

Note from @two fingers "Sorry I missed your question a while back. I gigged pretty regularly with my Ashdown LB30. I ran it to either a Euphonic Audio VL210 or an Epifani UL410. Once I even used an Ampeg 610 AV.

All three rigs would get stupid loud. In all three cases tue sound guy loved the line out. Full disclosure, in all three cases I had a Broughton Always On HPF in front of everything. That really tightened up all three cabs and allowed me to push the LB30 a little more because it wasn't trying to force out sub lows."

Sounds like good advice to use an HPF.

Was mentioned above but the PF50T tx XLR out does seem way weaker than the tx derived output on the Ash lil stubby, with both amps running about 8% of max on gain and vol. Not sure why, but mean's I'm probably going to try all this with the stubby first.

I meant 80% of max not 8, but you probably knew that...

Ok so the 30W ashdown and the ampeg pf50t are pretty loud through 12" and the 2x12". The little stubby handled small ensemble jazz rehearsal ok. However won't cut it in a louder setting even with the 2x12". One could argue for more efficient or more cabs, but here's a couple solutions I came up with.

1. Since the ampeg can operate with no load I can drop the DI through a transformer to a 200W amp. This board has the wireless and a cable to the amp then xlr back and then drives the speakers.

now for the stubby, it requires a load, so here's the alternate solution.
2. Again wireless with some effects there Line to the amp and speaker cable back to load box which then sends it to the 280W amp.

both work well and provide plenty of power. Both also can drop a transformer derived DI to the PA.

advantage is I can run the tube amps as clean or dirty as I want and still get the volume I need.

the pf50T seems to get saturated earlier than the little stubby when increasing volume so they aren't really that different, of course neither is the difference between 30 and 50W.

also if the tube amp fails I can just bypass it on the board and go direct to the ss amp. In one case anyway the space heater will provide some color.

Rehearsed in a rock band with the stubby and option 2 and worked very well.

a few extra cables to carry but that still doesn't add up to the extra 65 lbs for a tube head with this much power.

hope this helps someone trying to do this. Works well enough for me.

(option 3 which also works is dropping a transformer derived DI to an amp with XLR inputs. There's only a few bass amps with this feature.m, but I suppose a power amp would work.
