Giving refunds for a Craigslist purchase?

I wouldn't even answer the phone. A deal like that is final once the money is exchanged. You also have no idea what happened to the bass while he had it.

What happens if he brings the bass back and it's scratched, or has some other minor damage? Then you get in a pissing contest about whether that was there when he took the bass. I'd say sorry, but a deal is a deal.

Don't give him a refund. If he's not happy with it he's welcome to list it and resell it. If he wanted the security of a return policy he should have bought a new one or at least a used one from GC. When you buy from a store you pay a premium for that return policy. You don't get that from CL. Plus you said that it took you 5 months to sell it. Do you want to wait that long again?

The internet has spoiled today's consumer. Everyone expects everything for the cheapest price possible but still expects top quality and great service. You get what you pay for.

CL is nothing but an online garage sale. That's why I avoid it at all costs.

I'm with DM, $100 ain't worth the drama. If he tried it out at your place even more so, do you want to wake up to slashed tires? If he thinks he's entitled to a refund who knows what he thinks is a proper response to "no."

I agree as long as there is no effort on your end (no driving, no waiting at a different location, etc.)

I would tell him to list it on CL himself and if he doesn't sell it in a week, to come get his $$$.

Pain in the @$$ for $100 in any case.

But I guess that really depends on how important that $100 is to you. If you need it, different story. If it's still sitting on your table and it's not a big deal, then take the bass back.

Side note. I applied my logic to. $142 dispute recently over a non musical matter. Very long and winding story afterward since I'd washed my hands, but the guy on the other end was served a double helping of karma within two months and I was a very entertained bystander with a countryside seat.

I have the same issues selling stuff on craigslist. I been trying to sell m car. I'll list it and get about 10 texts the same day asking if I still have it I'll respond yes are you interested then no response.

Or I'll get some idiot lowballing me on other stuff. I ended up pawning my old b100 amp for double the offers people were shooting me on craigslost

I sold a cheap bass to a guy for $100 yesterday on Craigslist (softcase and strap included). He called me tonight asking for a refund because "the tone won't work with his band".

There is nothing wrong with the bass, everything works perfectly. It's just a cheap bass (Oscar Schmidt short-scale). He tried the bass out in-person before he purchased it and liked it. Then when he got home, he said it didn't sound the way he wants it to on his amp (a Line 6 20 watt practice amp). Again, the bass functions just fine.

Would you give the guy a refund or not?

No refunds on Craigslist. No way.

Would you refund someone who bought something at a garage sale because it doesn't match their curtains? No way Jose
