GK 2001RB & SWR 610 SENIOR

I briefly had the old RB1001 ( 3 rack space model ) and a sonic 610. Killer tone.

I've used my 700rb-II with a Goliath Sr plenty of times, and it sounded great - it would get really loud, though... I can't imagine ever needing more volume than that setup would provide, and I play in a really loud 2 guitar modern rock/metal band...
Seriously - try that cab with a 700rb-II before you spend the extra $$$ and haul the extra weight of the 2001rb...

I think it'll be louder than you're probably thinking, but the 700rb-II is louder than the 700rb by a noticeable amount - and definitely much improved...

Although definitely a great head, the 700rb-II will literally do everything the 800rb will do, and a good bit more...

I was referring to the MB-800, not the GK800RB.

The SWR 610 is not going to work with the special GK bi-amp mode anway. Only GK cabs can do that. Unless you want to have a dedicated separate speaker for just tweeter sounds - totally useless if you ask me. One speakon connection out of the MB800 into the SWR 610 will sound GREAT.
I just helped someone else on the forum with this question. I feel the MB series sounds just about the same as the RB series. I have not done extensive A/B tests with the heads, but I feel you would be best served going with the MB-800. It's lightweight, has the great GK tone, and has a bunch of wattage for a 8 ohm or 4 ohm load. Very much worth it in the end.
If there is a difference tone wise with the MB-800 orver the RB II 700, please let the OP know. I might have missed it.
It's punchy can't take huge power but loud. The 6x10 Senior is a loud cab. Won't go as low as some cabs but does the whole thing well.
